I have bought a ntsc ps2 from america, and i am living in the Uk, i have a n-pal converter and a converter for the power supply. I can start the ps2 fine, but the screen is either green or black and white. Does anybody know how i can fix this? I don't think im using the n-pal converter properly

You can view NTSC signals in the UK without a converter if your TV is NTSC-compatible, check your TV specifications. Also, you will need to use the AV scart cable (mine ends in three phono plugs which go into the provided scart plug, which in turn plugs into my telly, you may or may not have been provided with this so you may have to acquire one). I've used my PS2 to play NTSC DVD's using DVD-Region X just fine, but on a friend's TV the picture comes out black and white because their TV is not NTSC compatible.

I don't know about your PAL converter box, you'll have to look in the instructions or visit the manufacturer website, or ask in newsgroups etc.

Your tv does not support 60 Hz. I had the black and white problem myself even with an ntsc to pal converter as it only changes the signal from ntsc to pal but it doesn't lower the frequency so your tv is still receiving a 60 Hz frequency instead of the standard 50 Hz. It doesn't bother me if it is in black and white or colour if I am playing a game like Pong but it isn't very good playing more recent games in black and white instead of colour. To get rid of the black and white problem you will need to buy a new tv that supports 60 Hz. I bought a new one and my ntsc ps2 is now playing games in colour.

No, you could doi it although in case you get your Console chipped. in case you rather need to play distant places video games then this is the terrific way yet i'd desire to offer you a warning. Chipping consoles is like getting a telephone Unlocked, there is an threat it would no longer artwork or can smash your console and because you have fiddled around with it your manafacturers guarantee would be null and void so have a competent think of roughly whether it rather is well worth it beforehand you do something Rash
