They're called "thongs" now, and they are perfectly acceptable as underwear.
Personally, I feel like I'm picking a wedgie all the time, and I don't wear them, but many women find them to be very comfortable.
Give her a "win" on this one. From now on, (because of her age) you're going to need to choose your battles carefully.

Absolutely let her! My daughter and I started wearing g-strings around the same time. She was only 12 and I was 43. However, I have since put on weight so I no longer wear them. Your daughter, like mine is growing up and is starting to find her own identity. There is nothing x-rated about her panties (unless she insists on showing them off). When she gets older she can decide for herself if that's what she wants to wear!!

I personally would not. Reasoning behind it...SHE'S 13! The only person that should see her underwear is her! I say no, until she has a job and can buy what she wants. 13 is way to young to be impressing guys! Let her grow up a bit so the perverts @ her school can get over themselves more, and she starts introducing herself into the real dating scene. She'll realize how much guys suck! Impressing them now is totally not worth it

i wouldn't if she were my daughter because of the fact there are too many perverts out there and the boiz at school would never respect her they would just treat her like someone she is not and i hope you get the hint and don't think i am being too forward i have just been there when a friend of mines daughter who is 14 wanted to buy some and her mom let her and man that was a big mistake she will never do that again

Go for it! They are still called underwear, no matter how little material they are made of. They are still made to go UNDER clothes. There is no reason she shouldn't, unless she wears them alone, or on the outside of her pants. Oh yeah and just make sure she color coordinates...Now white pants! White pants are trashy, NEVER let her wear those! I am soo kidding, they are underwear let her try them , she may not even like 'em. Like another poster said, pick yer battles, this probably shouldn't be one of them :)
