Good question.....In the big picture, i guess it wouldn't be....for one simple reason.......In the big picture, you see it all, and chance is not really a chance but an opporunity, the difference is we can't see it coming.......but in the big picture we can.....so it's not really a chance now is it? So no, its not an illusion at all, just an unrealized fact!

What if the 'big picture' is an illusion in itself? How can a mortal look at the "big picture" when he/she is limited to certain standards? But, ignoring all that, chance does not seem to be an illusion but the ability to recognise it and make full use of it is necessary.
