It's good to be proud of your heritage, but why claim mexico and talk crap about the United States, especially if you were born here. It's not like you would live there and make a life....and if you do love it soooo much, why don't you just move there. Just to let you know, I'm hispanic and I love the United States.

Sir,
You make me very proud to be an american, Bravo. I wish more people were like you. Good point though if you dont want to be here than get the hell out. If you dont agree with the way we do things here well than get the freakin hell out. If you are going to try and fly a mexican flag on american soil well get ready to get a flag pole shoved up your a$$ and get ready to get kicked out.

I'M hispanic. From Guatemala. I don't talk crap about United States. A person can not generalize all hispanic to be the same. We are in United States because we love this country.

I have a friend like that. He tries so hard to be the stereotypical "brown to the bone" Mexican. He decorates his room with bottles of Mexican beer, Mexican flags, soccer posters, red chillis ... you name it he does it. He is our group's laughing stock. He either doesn't know/ doesn't care how ridiculous he looks ... or he thinks he is actually "living the life" and he thinks he looks good.
He barely speaks or understands traditional spanish. The best he can do it a smattering of tex-mex. And I have never seen him pay any attention to soccer, except when it is the popular thing to do. VIVA MEXICO! *rolls eyes* He is the kind of guy that goes to one lecture by a hispanic author or takes one Mexican heritage class and instantly buys every book by the author and puts them on his bookshelf for looks, but never reads them.
To his credit he has actually been to Mexico, but only the nice "sanitized for tourist" places. He wouldn't dare go to the 95% of the country that is a sh*thole.
I think he believes that he is really expressing his love for his heritage, but only using the parts of history that can be easily digested and turned into popular cultural slogans.

I don't have an answer, but I have always wondered this myself to. I agree with your statement, but now that hispanics/latin folk that now live here, wouldn't they celebrate their new freedoms by showing a little bit more support to their new country?
Oh well, I guess this is something I will never figure out...

human defense mechanism. its easy for us to not understand because although we're hispanic we aren't the ones who are the topic of hatred and discrimination. we're the token hispanics. we're ok.
