No, cats need to have meat in their diet. They are obligate carnivores.

No, you can have a vegetarian DOG, but not a cat.
Friends of mine have carefully worked out a diet for their dog, but cats are obliged to be carnivores; their health would suffer, possibly death? My vegetarian/vegan friends know this.

"Cats require certain nutrients from meat that cannot be obtained in sufficient amounts from plant foods. These include taurine, arachidonic acid, vitamin A, and vitamin B12."
Also: "High fibre foods can fill the cat's digestive system without providing the necessary nutrients in sufficient concentrations. Excess polyunsaturated fatty acids in vegetable oils can lead to a vitamin E deficiency related illness."

Cats are carnivorous, more so than dogs. There are many nutrients that they cannot get from plants (notably Vitamin A, which many plants have, but cats cannot digest that form of it).
You could feed a cat a vegetarian diet, but you would need to supplement it somehow with the missing nutrients.

I don't know about cats, but i have two very healthy vegetarian rats if that helps you on your quest

im not to sure. i hav a cat name angel he eats every thing! even butter. in fact my cat loves my mom's water spider!he will go to the back yard n start chewing n swollowing it. gross? well i think mine is an omivore! if u r wondering, it an britishshort hair cat breed.
