Hematuria has several factors, including tumors (cancerous or benign) or kidney disease, in which cases a doctor should be consulted.

Proteinuria on the other hand can be caused mainly by kidney disease.

It can be a sign of urinary tract infection. If there is blood in your urine the infection may have likely spread to or originated in your kidneys.
