How is this a rude question? If you were from another country wouldnt you want to know where to go and not get ripped off? Be able to have a great time for your Peso, Euro, or pound? And not be eover charged in a tourist trap? I'm sorry if you think its rude but I travel alot and I like to go where I can get a good deal.

I would recommend Chiapas, especially San Cristobal de las Casas. We stayed in a room with three beds for $25.
The Casa del Pan is awesome. Fresh fruit and fresh guacamole.
And wicked awesome bread.
You could live great in SCLC for around $20/day.

Don't know much about the east coast development. If you are thinking Baja California, its certainly not cheap anymore. The days of the 50 cent Margarita are all but over. Utilities, gas and electric, are really expensive. The US dollar is irrevocably tied to the peso, yesterday it was 10.40 to the dollar, some places its 10 to 1.

The unrestrained development along the coastline, condos in the 200,000US range has changed the dynamic of the whole area from Tijuana to Ensenada, its becoming more like Palm Beach, very upscale, lots of South Americans with big bucks.

Farther from access to the US border is cheaper. San Felipe is building up quite rapidly even as a far as Bahia de Los Angeles. Living like a king in Baja is out of the question. There still some largely untouched beach areas near Abreojos (way south) where you can live like a king in exile. Cancun was created for party people on vacation, a tourist trap to be sure.

DO you mean like LIVE completely LIVE in Mexico? I know many people that do the Border Living to take advantage on the everyday living expenses and they work on the american side, you pay all your expenses at low cost : rent, utilities, food, etc. while working across in the U.S. earning dollars. I live in TExas just in the border with Mexico and have many friends with huge nice decent homes in rich neighborhoods (because they are easier to afford of course) and they work just a few minutes. The only hassle they have if you can call it a hassle its the having to drive back and forth every day from one city to the other but at the end it is worth it. For vacations its the same.

You have to go to the smaller villages where it is not touristic.
Puerto Penasco,San Felippe they are smal tourist towns, but the cheaper one are going to be away from the sea area in small villages. drive around and look and explore.

I don't understand the question. If you want to spend only one dollar for your vacation forget about it!
