Normally I would say old blood, but since it is not around your period, I would suggest you see your GYN or family doctor for an exam. If you haven't had a pelvic exam before, don't worry, it won't hurt, just a little embarrassing. Make sure you are comfortable with your doctor before the exam so that you will relax.

A brown discharge signifies old (not current) blood. You will want to have a talk to your doctor about this. There is something else happening that you need to get looked at!

It is probably break through bleeding. Because you are so young, your cycle isn't quite established and sometimes the uterus sheds itself through the month. You should, however, talk this over with your mother and show her the stains on your underwear.
