As many have said they weren't renewing her contract which is true. They weren't renewing her contract because viewers have been turned off by her because of her sudden weight loss and because of being a "bridezilla" and getting everything for free. Barbara had hoped that she would be able to rebuild her image but things have gotten worse and her ratings are lower than ever.

All the rumors flying around really do not make any difference now. Does it truly matter--Star Jones Reynolds is no longer on the view. Change is good and this is her appointed time to move on to greater opportunities. I watched the View because it had a variety of personalities; one being a beautiful, strong, intelligent African American female, and the different "views" expressed on the show were refreshing.
After all, the show is called the "View". Since when has it been a crime to express yours. Americans can be judgmental, cruel, and vicious sometimes--we need to stop! There are so many issues and problems going on in the county that we should be addressing, but we are more interested in this much publicized cat fight?
I wish the best for Star. Let us rise to the occasion for once and speak positive about this whole ordeal. Tomorrow all of this will be yesterdays news and forgotten anyway.
Hey, has anyone noticed gas prices rose again...

Yeah it is taking a new direction. You can't be STUCK ON YOURSELF to work there. While she might be an intelligent woman she is quite arrogant and all the more so since she lost all the weight thanks to GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY (which she didn't bother to tell, but said it was through diet and exercise). Here is an article I read just a few minutes ago that I found quite interesting... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060628/en_nm/view_dc;_ylt=Aj7Pmys65YKhkkCcI1w8c.i2GL8C;_ylu=X3oDMTA3YXYwNDRrBHNlYwM3NjI-
I don't watch the show, and never really have been interested in it. First there is how I VIEWED Star and then Joy Behar is vulgar. Meredith is pleasant. I like her on WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE. I think BARBARA WALTERS is pretty okay too. I'm not sure what Rosie will bring to the table. I may watch her debut show out of curiosity just to see.
I didn't bother reading any of the other responses until after I posted my own. I AM SO GLAD THERE ARE OTHERS THAT FEEL AS I DO. She was all about HER! I was in a doctor's office with a relative recently and the View was on tv in waiting room. She kept fidgeting with her clothes. She had on a tank top type shirt/blouse. Her flabby arms were all over the place. I'm happy for her weight loss no matter how she obtained it, but couldn't she just dress modestly for goodness sakes!

Well, this morning on the view, Star wasn't there. Barbara Walters said that Star would not been seen on the view anymore unless it was a pre-recorded show. She said they told Star that she could tell the media whatever she wanted to and she didn't have to tell them her contract wasn't renewed. Barbara said they were all caught off guard when Star made the announcement on the show yesterday that she would not longer be there. I am assuming they told Star not to come back. Barbara Walters said that the view made Star Jones a star and Star made the view what it is today. So, I just think it was a lot of bad feelings. It just seems kind of fishy that Star would be let go when they signed Rosie on.

Star Jones was never really my favorite member of the view, but it's not any of Rosie O' Donnel's business how Star lost the weight. I don't think she acted like she had a big head or acted like a diva..I just think that she was proud of herself for getting the weight off just as any other woman would be. Star probably did leave because of the comments made by Rosie O' Donnel and I can't blame her. Rosie only made the comments because of her own insecurities and probably wishes she could lose the weight that Star did. Star Jones did "quit", they may have not wanted to renew her contract, but she beat them to it. She is absolutely right about the view going in a completely different direction. Changing from Meredith as host to Rosie is going to make the show one big joke. The View is one of my favortie shows, but I have to say that I think that will change for most viewers next year.

On the outside looking in....... There are several reasons that have come to mind in regards to this situation which I believe is pertinent to consider.
(1) Star Jones sometime ago had gastric bypass surgery. As it stands right know she looks sickly. I support being healthy but what I don't support is the after effect of such a surgery. If someone is not capable of losing weight the natural way. Then there most be steps to make yourself look good after the surgery. I dont believe Star has mastered this yet. In todays society looks is everything. I believe "The View" supported her weight lose but probably did not know or understand the lasting effects of it.
(2) I have found that when African-American women are in position with women of different racial groups sometime their is a stigma of sort that their is a phase of intergration or adapation. I believe that Star Jones is a very outspoken Black WOMEN who can hold her own. You all may have experience when you are outspoken you are told to keep quiet in the work place or talk at a minimial or watch what you say.
(3) Alot of times, I have found that sometime individuals have been given a false impression inregards to them moving up in a company. Maybe perhaps Star was not to be the star after all.
Let me know what you think????????????

I heard that essentially she was fired when they didn't renew her contract, but there is the possibillity that the arrival of Rosie O'Donnel could be the answer and why she said what she did on the show. I feel they are too much alike and that Ms. Jones would hate to feel challenged. I'm not sure I will miss her. With the weight loss, she looks like she needs a makeover, too.

Star jones really quit the view because of Rosie. GOOD FOP YOU STAR. Star is a very intellient attorney and Rosie is a just a comedian. Rosie does NOT belong on the show and I cant believe that ABC would replace Meridith in her shoes. Star knew that the direction was WRONG and she decided to quit. ABC has no respect for Star because those two girls just dont get along. Unless they did it for ratings so the two fill fight all the time. Anyhow, Good luck Star and keep on shining

I can't honestly say that I would have handled working as well as Star did knowing that my contract wouldn't be renewed.
I hate the direction that the view is going. I resent the way Ms Walters gave her presentation stating that the View "Covered for Star" This sounded like a problem that should have been handled behind closed doors.
Why would B. Walters be surprised that Star was leaving, when she knew for months that Star's contract wasn't going to be renewed.
As far as Rosie.........well, they can have her.....No longer a fan of the View

It's because Rosie is coming on the show and the fact that she has not been getting along with the network. Her demeanor has changed since she got married and the weight loss and I think that she has put people off honestly. I know that she has put me off. If she really quit because of Rosie then she is a fool. I don't think that she quit I think that her contract was not going to be renewed. I think she did it to save face. Whatever the reason I'm sure she'll land on her feet. She has a law degree after all

Star did not "quit". Quitting is when it's YOUR decision to leave. Star's contract was not renewed....and from what it seems like, ABC was not honest about it. It seems a little strange that Star was not told directly, but instead the information first went to her agent. Now all of a sudden some producer is saying he should've fired her back in November, but according to her, she was invited to sit next to him at the Emmy's....so folks are saying one thing and doing another. It's ok for ABC to change their mind about who hosts the show, but they should be honest.
Also, once you make the decision to terminate an employee, I thought the reasons why you fired them (or not renewed their contract) was confidential. I thought it was quite tacky that they released a 10 point (I think it was 10) list of the reasons they didn't want to renew her contract. First of all.....that is nobody's business but theirs and Star's. Second of all, most of the points seemed quite petty.
For all the smiling and coffee drinking they do on the show acting like they were friends, to not at least have the dignity to be honest (with both Star AND the public) seems not only disingenuous, but also a breach of corporate responsibilty and ethics. ABC should simply have said, "we chose not to renew her contract....we appreciate her past contributions, and wish her luck in her future endeavors"....and that's it....end of story. That could have been their party line for ANY question, and they would've kept the high road. But to engage in tit for tat....when all Star said in People magazine was that she FELT like she was fired....which no one can dispute her feeling, then WHAT really is the issue?
Are they really that upset that she left 2 days earlier than they thought? So what? It sounded like she didn't want this elaborate send-off which would've been only appropriate if it had been HER decision to leave....and it wasn't....so it does seem to make sense not to participate.
I am by no means a Star fan....but I do think she has handled this with incredible grace, honesty, and courage.
