American should not be placed into a group that is when you begin to stereotype. When you stereotype then you do not see people for their individual qualities.

I am Muslim and American I do not think that I am the enemy

Most Americans are regular people just like anyone else...they mean no harm. It's the Americans who run the government and the large global corporations who are the evil ones. They exploit the poor of the world and provoke war. I live in this country and sometimes I am ashamed.

When it comes to Americans as a nation, represented by The Executive, etc., it depends on whether there's a profit, or power, in it. I guess when it just comes down to people it depends on all the usual things. We shouldn't judge the poor beggars by their movies, either. Otherwise we'd have to judge ourselves by what we watch on TV too, or what our elected pollies do. Some of the most intelligent and civilised people I ever knew were Americans. They escaped.

Given that more voluntary human aid pours out of America than any other country.
Given that we've given more money to countries reagardless of religious origins, including Christian, Moslem, Jewish, Hindu, etc., than any other country.
Given that we've expended human lives in the defense of human rights of more countries (including moslem countries like Bosnia and Somolia)
Given that we have the loosest immigration laws of nearly any other nation
Given the amount of foreign loans forgiven and the amount given to the UN
Given the amount of technology and medicine provided to countries of poverty and neglect
Given the resources the US shares with the world regarding weather, natural events (volcanos, earthquakes), international piracy, archeology, NATO, space exploration, sanitation, AIDs, etc.
Whether you agree with a specific action or decision by America, you can only conclude that generally, we've been at the forefront of being friends to the world.
