I don't think we have to choose - if we are in the middle of nowhere with many real friends, it will no longer be nowhere because we will certainly make our own community and build what we need to survive. And if I am in the middle of the city with no friends, I will surely find some. Well, if I have to choose between the two, I however prefer the nowhere idea.

I would live in the middle of nowhere with someone I truly truly loved and vice-versa. No doubt. No friends needed. That's what good long drives are for.
