Yes, I do. Medical massage therapists are allowed to rub people with their hands to make them feel good. Sex workers use stimulation to make people feel good. The only difference seems to be the religious ramifications. It is a throwback to our stupid Puritanical roots. I don't think any laws should be based on religious standards, and the law against prostitution is based only on that.
And for those who say that venereal disease is the reason it should be illegal, I disagree. If prostitution were regulated, STD rates in sex workers/patrons would decrease.
Some people are good at math, some are great artists, and others are good at sensual acts. I don't see why a woman or man who wants to use his or her body to make money should be denied. After all, isn't that the same thing professional athletes and models do?

No, only for the reason that women who do that for money in the first place have severe emotional problems like were molested and/or raped as children, runaways, drug addicts, etc. Even if you work for some classy brothel like the Bunny Ranch..those chics are dealing with some serious problems. A profession like that is not empowering for women no matter what they or someone else tells you and I can't see how that would help our economy no more than drugs have. Although I believe drugs have made many people individually rich, it certainly hasn't helped the mass of people in general. In fact it has devastated many peoples lives. If you legalize prostitution the only good things that may happen from it are containment of STD's and more men can go see these women and not worry so much about getting caught. I personally feel sorry for somebody who can't get laid but hey, take a trip to Nevada for that. In short, it might sound like a good idea but I just don't believe in selling of the body. You might as well sell your soul and I can't think of a single person who would like to sell that unless you are a brokenhearted human being. Legalization of prostitution is another extremely liberal proposal that would only sound good for soulless robots, not people and I am a liberal. It's just not right.

No, I don't agree that prostitution should be legalized. I have a lot of the same issues about prostitution that most people would have that are against it. I think one thing to consider is that regardless of what we all think of sex workers, they are still human beings.
From an ethical stand point I would argue that you should look beneath the mechanical and understand the effects that this 'job' causes on the emotional, spiritual and physical level.
Even though I don't agree with you lol, good luck with your thesis!

It's not only about economy... but because other issues such as std's, if prostitution gets legalized, there would be a way to track if the prostitute has a std, force them to use protection and penalize them if they infect someone else. On the other hand, at least in my hometown, there are prostitutes in parks where children go and play, there must be places where the prostitutes can do their job without affecting anyone.... and things like that.
Other thing: the pimps... they treat their "ho's" like slaves and/or hostages, and sometimes if they want to quit, they get threatened, and they just can't tell anyone because of the fear to be locked in jail as well.
If you decide to be or hire a prostitute, YOUR problem

Prostitution is legal in all Nevada counties except Clark and Washoe. Women are safe and they are checked weekly for diseases. This keeps customers safe, also. I think prostitution should be legal, but it should be controlled exclusively by the women themselves, like in a labor union.

Yes, if it is regulated in such a way that they make sure it's the man, or woman's choice, and not their sexually abusive step-dad/uncle/etc., they should be of age, they should be tested regularly, their should be no abusive pimps, and they should be able to get regular jobs after wards if they decide to quit, and I'm not sure it's even possible to regulate it in such a way.

Sure, why not> The threat of nationwide unprotected sex is a GREAT idea! I mean, there isn't enough spread of disease, including, but not limited to V.D. or A.I.D.S. amoungst young people, lets leave it open to middle aged and older men AND WOMEN!!!
Hey, while were at it, let's make it open to minors too, there aren't enough 9,10,11 yr olds having sex and spreading disease and unwanted pregnancies, let's let them have sex with all of the leagelized hookers out there!!!
Let's let THIS be how this whole COUNTRY goes down!!!!!!!!!!
Enough material for you thesis?????
