I have started to participate in Yahoo Answers with real interest assuming that it is all true and real. Most of my actvity is in Travel-India section as that is one section where I thought I can help. But I noticed that there are several silly questions and that too repeated. Some of the questions are so simple that it is not difficult at all to find the answer on the net. What makes me suspecious is:

1. The same ids posing several questions in a row on varying subjects eg: anand p
2. Today there are several questions placed in a row using the names of all Indian Criketers (yuvrajsingh, kaifu, rahuldravid, mahendersiinghdhoni, virendershwag etc.)

Do you think it is all just to fill up this space and not really because they need help.

Do you think Yahoo is behind this to make Yahoo Answers popular?

It can not be for points - as you lose points for asking a question but not gain. I suspect it might be some travel agents who might be doing it. You can see invariably many questions are on ticketing / hotels or tours and in the answers you see some tour operator or travel agent being promoted.

You are right Mohan.

anand p has been sounded through answers here for his repeated and unmindful questions time and again.

Some IDs using Indian Cricketers names have also been on rise repeating questions in competition among themselves. These IDs' questions come in bunches and one asks somewhat same question the other has asked a day or two ago.

One can ignore answering such questions appearing to be fake.

Rest, have fun and keep participating for genuine questions/answers and help.

I think some people just have too much time on their hands...or they aren't mature enough to take things seriously - but you must admit some of the questions are a little out there...right! And my answer to your question is no, I don't think it is all fake.....but I don't understand you number 2 about "Today there are several questions placed in a row using the names of all Indian Criketers..." at all....so who am I to say! Just have fun.

You are correct that most of the questions are unwarranted and the person you mentioned is pain in the neck. As someone else answered it is a question of points without knowing as to what is there in the store.

yeah i agree with Chris. Its just a bunch of eegits trying to increase their points. Theres nothing wrong with someone using a cricketer as their user name, I've often used bugs as a user name...that doesn't mean I'm trying to pretend to be bugs bunny, it sounds like their just using those names cause their easy to remember..maybe..I dunnno. And ps I didn't even realise theres an Indian section in travel, thanks I'll prob post a few Q's there as am going in a couple of months.

You really think so..?
Well some idiots are surely doing this just for fun but most of the people out there are the ones who really need your help, coz people are there to help them out also......

You can also try asking...........!!!

No. People are just dumb and are posting questions for points or they are too lazy to find the answer themselves. Don't forget, our world is full of dumb people too.
