I have redhair, and fair skin. I have always wanted to get a tan. MY friends and I go to the beach or say "let's go tanning" but it never really is for me because I never tan I burn. This should explain how fair and senstive my skin is to the sun. At camp last summer my friends and I were putting on sunscreen and I was just saying to them "oh I burn so easy, my sunscreen never works, I still burn when I have it on." So one of my friends gave me a bottle of sunscreen with SPF 90. Then we went and were playing sports, out in the sun and I kept reapplying it and guess what I still burnt, infact I had blisters on back. Is there any "tanning sunscreen" that could make me a little darker or give colour to my skin when I go tanning??? What's safe and not safe...I honestly don't spend that much time out int eh sun because I burn, I want ideas so i can go out in the sun and not worry that I'm going to burn... please help...

that's a bummer that you burn so easily. i would really recommend that you just stay out of the sun when possible because you are at an increased risk for skin cancer. as far as tanning goes, i would recommend trying the jergens natural glow moisturizer. it doesn't turn you orange like rub on tans, it's just an everyday lotion and they have formulas for light, medium, and dark shades. i don't go out in the sun very much either because the heat gives me a headache so i really like this lotion. i just use it on my legs and arms and it really seems to give them a little more color. plus it's pretty cheap (like $5 at walmart). i'd give that a try- good luck!

well no matter what you will burn if you don't wear sunblock...even if yoou are already tan...it just might not be as noticeable. but if you say you are reapplying and it still doesn't work then you seem to be sol. sorry but those are the tricks. try some of this stuff "hawaiian Tropic OZONE sunblock" it's spf 70. it is the only stuff that would ever keep me from burning. just make sure it is on as soon as you go out and keep re applying...that's about all you can do. and if you don't burn you will tan a little bit. and if you just want the tan "look" then deffinately use the spray on stuff and avoid long hours out in the sunlight and at the most harmful uva/uvb times....2:00-4:00 if i'm not mistaken. good luck

I would suggest a tanning bed, however, you have to be picky and make sure that they are clean, cheap, and they have great beds. If you start tanning slowly and build your body to the temperature needed to be able to tan and not burn, slowly, you can get a slight tan because of your skin. I believe...Nothing wrong in trying it out, but don't overdue it...Im european, I tan easily, but I find at this particular location, their beds tan me well...are you in toronto?

i have the same problem and i'm sorry to tell you, unless you want skin cancer, stay out of the sun, the only safe way a fair skinned person can get a tan, is out of a bottle! there are products out there that claim to help you tan, it's all a load of rubbish.i have tried it all and paid the price...big time! please, stay out of the sun and love yourself the way you are. take care!
