I'm sure through all this talking you have a grasp on what her opinions on key issues are. Religion, politics, childrearing....there are all sorts of topics that you can use to drive a comfortable wedge between you and your neighbor, without having to be too rude about it.
If you say something far enough to one side of an argument, e.g. if she says, "I don't understand why people hate Bush so much. He's doing a good job."
You could say, "Well, I didn't vote for him, and I don't really agree with most of his policies. Oh, I think I'm burning dinner. I'll talk to you later!" Smile and wave, and she'll have private time to think about not wanting to hang out with you so much anymore.
I've done similar things before, and it works. You just have to find the right issue, that she feels very strongly about.
Or, you can just be honest about it. Tell her you have always been used to having a private personal life, and it makes you uncomfortable to talk about things." You could add to that, "even to my closest friends and family. I'm just a private kinda person." It tells her you consider her a close friend, but that it doesn't entitle her to know everything about you.

Try using the following: When you ask me questions about my personal life, i feel as though you are prying into my affairs. Because i have personal things that are not for everyone, i would like it if you could try and refrain from asking personal questions. I don't mind sharing some things, but think some things are personal. Supposedly, this format works and keeps people from feeling offended. I have tried it on my hubby and he never gets mad. The format is" When you......, I feel......., Because....., i would like for you to.......... Just fill in the blanks after the phrases.

Just be honest and up front with her. You could say to her: Look, I like you, you're a nice person, but there is such a thing as personal space and boundaries, and you are crossing that line. It makes me really uncomfortable, when you ask all those personal questions. They are personal for a reason, and I would appreciate it, if you would just ease up a bit.
If she is a MATURE adult, she will understand. Good luck!

Well, consider this. She is certainly nowhere near as smart as you are and you should not worry about it. Just ignore her. I mean, you are mad at people for ignoring you and now you are mad at your neighbor for paying attention to you. I don't know how you can survive this awful situation. Maybe you should move away and make new friends- in a smarter city.
