You should read the Wife of Bath's Tale from the Canterbury Tales. She ( or rather Chaucer ) gives a peerspective on this subject.

I think they want: honesty, love, respect,sense of humour, kindness, to be able to trust , a bit of romance, spontaneity and someone who will be themselves. These are justa few of the things I looked for.

For me that is simple...
They need a job, a car, and their own place.
Once all that is in order then, I want someone I can talk to, be with as myself, and somone that can make me laugh.

*respects, meaning don't be sexist
*ALWAYS tell her how beautiful she looks.
*it's really romantic if you slowly kiss her on the hand, then look deep into her eyes and smile
*generosity. Don't be cheap, but don't buy her too many gifts. Then it seems like you think you can buy her love.
