I think it's already realized, as it is with hockey. However soccer is the most popular sport in the world for the fact of how long it has been around.

becasue alot of people are stupid to call a sport pansy when theyve never played the kind of sport where you have to play for ninety minutes when the only kind of protection you have is a like a 5 by 7 piece of plastic( chinguard) but the sport is growing as we speak please basketball and nascar are popular sports in the US and theyre not nearly as contact sport as football (soccer) most kids that play soccer in the us when theyre small are suburban kids that know nothing about the sport fact is if you didnt grow up with the sport in this country you will always ask questions like this

it would be if little league soccer became more competitive. A bunch of upper class white kids being cheered on by their moms won't inspire these kids to go on to play in the World Cup. One of the reasons football(American) is so popular is because kids are rased around it their whole lives, and they're being taught that losing is never an option. An attitude like that exists with football in the rest of the world.

America will keep playing Neanderthal games like American Football for the next 100 years.

If the leagues move to the US, it will be great-Europe is a poor continent and Americans have money-which will bring amazing levels to the game (see what they did to Basketball).

For Soccer's sake I hope it moves to America, but alas, wont be happening any time soon. The silly Europeans will dominate the board because America ain't in (financially, and game wise).

and that is a shame...as you have seen in the Portugal Netherlands game...it IS a physical game and it can be rather exciting...

consider this...if in the NFL..EVERYTHING you scored was 1 point...what would scoring be like? probably low as well...

80% of baseball games have scores under 10 runs combined for both teams..it is another reason why many people today consider baseball as boring...also because it doesn't have a set time to end like Basketball, Hockey , Soccer or Football..

in contrast football..basketball are both HIGH SCORING games and for that reason...they're embraced...and the championships are typically high spirited..(when the refs are worth bragging about).

If you watch a few games .. I think you will find it could catch on quickly .. it is fast, unlike baseball.. it has many simularites to hockey including agressiveness and that is popular.

i don't know which country you're talking about but where i come from (the philippines), we don't even have a national football team but that hasn't stopped filipinos from going ga-ga over the world cup spectacle. it's a beautiful game, man, and if you don't appreciate that, i feel sorry for you.
