I don't know...at first I thought they were fighting for their right to believe in whatever they want...the more educated about world affairs I became, the more it seems like they are just using that as an excuse to insight and create violence - just like America, Palestine, Israel, Islamic radical terrorists, etc.

First, the I.R.A. is not a terrorist organization. They are fighting to drive out a foreign army that invaded their country. I'm sure that those of you who call them terrorists would never resort to shooting or bombing foreign solders who invaded the US. No, you would all puss out and hope the federal government would do it for you. Well the men and women of the RA have the guts to stand up and fight for their country. Those of you who haven't lived in N.I. have no idea of the terror campaigns inflicted on the Irish citizens by the british army and loyalist paramilitary organizations. The Volunteers of the Irish Republican Army are true patriots and heroes, no different than the solders of the American Revolution.
And yes, a lot of money to fund the RA did come from the US. Most of it coming from people who were forced to leave Ireland because they were Catholic and were denied jobs, housing and basic civil rights. Not to mention nightly petrol bombings from loyalist gangs while the RUC stood by and did nothing to defend them. Once those people got here, they felt a duty to support the people back home who are fighting to rid Ireland of english oppression.
Take it from someone who's lived it!

A lot of Americans love them and pretend to be Irish on St. Patrick's day and the like. Clinton came over and endorsed the IRA, he even shook hands with Gerry Adams.
The IRA funds all come from New York, the Irish don't like them the British don't like them. They are terrorists, same as UDF, UDV, ETA, Al-qaedia, anti-capitalist protesters, animal rights lobbyists.

I believe they have some right views, but the wrong means in which to get their goals. I do not agree with a lot of their views, and not at all with how they do things. So I do not think they are heros, but I would not go as far as to say they are terroists.

terrorists in Northern Ireland - on both sides of the fence - are just gangsters and hoodlums now. They're criminal organisations designed to make money through video piracy, protection and selling drugs.

How long has the problem been going on - 900 years. As someone with Irish and English ancestory, I think enough is enough and the Brits should pack up and leave.

While the IRA claims to be Freedom Fighters, based on their tactics, strategies, and organization, they are essentially Terrorists.
