I'm getting to a point where I don't want to waste any more time. I'm considering even going back to a school to learn a trade. I just don't know what to choose.

Please drive a stake through your own ego and don't look at this emotionally or look at a job as a chance for happiness.

You want PAY. You wants BENEFITS. You want a savvy employer who'se going to be around for 20 or 30 years.

In other words, you don't want, really don't want, to change jobs when you are OLDER than 35, you want a job that will provide a good retirement and allow you to save for a comfortable retirement.

It is almost impossible to get a really good, new, job in your 40's or 50's. So leap ONCE and shrewdly so you can burrow in under you're financially secure and the game doesn't matter.

"There are so many jobs I'm interested in. What should I do?" Those two sentences ring of fear. If there are so many jobs that you are interested in, then you know what to do, but it is a bit scary.

I don't know anyone who has been successful without failing, sometimes quit often, first. Simply make a list of those interesting jobs you are interested in. Make a column of good points and bad points about the job. Before you list the good and bad points, make another list of things you absolutely enjoy doing, such as interacting with people, working with your hands, building things, making things better, meeting new people, working alone; whatever really turns you on. Prioritize that list. What is most important to you. Then go back to your list of good and bad and start noting the good and bad things about the type of job you are interested in. Scratch out the ones you end up with more bad than good. Then add priority points from your other lists of things you really enjoy. The lowest number is highest priority,. Then take add the numbers for each job and take the 5 lowest in points. These should have attributes that you will enjoy the most.

Next, send a resume, go apply, just do it. If you fail, so what? Continue on with the next and the next if need be. The two biggest things you have to deal with is being honest with yourself and the motivation to take action. If you don't take action (and yes, you mail fail a few times), then you are wasting time. If you are not honest with yourself, you won't choose the right jobs to interview.

Go back to school. Along the path of education, you will get a peek behind some career doors that you might not otherwise ever see, if you keep your eyes open.

Take an online quiz (tickle.com has some that arae free) or buy the book StrengthQuest. With StrengthQuest you get a cd and take a computer test and it identifies your top 5 best strengths and associates jobs with each. If you're lucky two or three will have the same type of career mentioned and you will see what you're meant to do. I took it and my Strenths in order were: Empathy, Ideaology, Connectedness, Relator, Developer. Theres 35 of these types and they are great to know. No One ever get's the same profession for all stregths as they list like 5 jobs for each. Every single one of mine said I should become a teacher (out of the 5 strengths they had 5 jobs associated, but each one had one that said teacher, mentor, coach, or support person) So that's what I did. and I'm 45, If I can do it you certainly can

If you are anywhere interested in a job from home, that is pretty satisfactory and totally free to join, you might like to give this link a shot. It is worthwhile provided you take the effort to discover it and devote some time to it. Good luck.
