"True Love" is just a mushier way of saying "Soul Mate".
I think you know it's for real when you want the other person to be happy, even if it makes you sad, but you don't ever have to worry about that happening, because they feel the same way about you. It's like, no matter how long you know each other, you still laugh at each others jokes, not because it's polite, but because you really think they're funny. You have friends, but your lover is your Best Friend, and vice versa.

There is no such thing one "soul mate" for each person. We all have many soul mates, same or opposite sex. Friends can be "soul mates" as can family and non-family. There is no such thing as just "one true" love. We can love over and over again.
If you're asking how you know if you are in love with someone, and want to be life partners, figure out (above and beyond the sex and lust part) are you better off with them or without them? Does this person enhance your life or make it more difficult? Do you respect them? Do they respect you?

Your soulmate might not love you. I think would be the difference. Our lifes our going to become very fast and maybe fleeting to worry about trivia. Try to focus on how much you love. Youll go nuts trying to find any quality at all in peoples emotions much less any committment that goes along with them. (picture me with my eyes watering , a hand over my heart, and then I take your thermostat out of your car and destroy it) see what i mean, dont worry about other assholes just keep your own standards andmind alive. this is a dying country. In so many many many ways.

If you're truly in love with someone, there is a chance they don't feel the same way. A soul mate would feel exactly the same about you, as you do about them. A soul mate is you're lover and best friend. You share a deep understanding with them. They are someone you could see yourself growing old with.

Well, you can go your whole life and not happen. Sometimes you have to work through the relationship and you become soul mates that way.

Someone you tell that you will wait for them on the other side of eternity. Some one you still want to be with after they have destroyed you. GUESS IT HAPPENS OVER TIME AS ONE OF YOUR ANSWERS ALREADY INDICATES. I ALWAYS KNEW MY LADY WAS MY MINE. I RECENTLY HAD SURGERY AND WAS LAID UP BAD. SHE TOOK GREAT CARE OF ME AND BECAUSE OF IT I HAVE MADE A QUICK RECOVERY. I ALREADY KNEW SHE WAS SPECIAL, BUT WHEN YOU ARE HELPLESS AND OUT OF IT YOU CANNOT IMAGINE THE COMFORT THAT COMES FROM YOUR SPECIAL SOMEONE BEING THERE.
