You see them at the freeway entrances, or at busy corners. People holding signs asking for money. Do you feel that it is right to do this...do you give to them or pass them by?

hell no I don't give to them, and I wish I could slap anyone who does. panhandling is a scam. they feel no shame because
they know they are the ones who are taking advantage of you.
I've met this street panhandlers, spent time with them.
I've heard their stories of getting over on people. Most are
quite proud of it. The practice should be banned. Many
communities have bans. Others cities have tried to ban the
practice, but have met with legal resistance from advocates.

Wow, this has been going on for ever, 20+ years, at least in So CA. I remember when a radio DJ, watched a freeway beggar climb into his truck to drive away, a new truck. And it was reported that they can make several hundred dollars a day, hey that report was at least 15 years ago. I pass them by or I buy food only, won't give cash. I don't mind helping someone really needy, but hey when they make more than me doing nothing. There's a guy up at the circle k, I bet he makes close to a hundred when he's there. Figure 10-20 people go in and out constantly, it's a gas station too, if 1/4 give him a dollar that up to $2-5 every 5 or 10 minutes, that's $20-60 a hour, tax free. Not my place to pay them for nothing. I work hard for my money. And what about the kids selling candy in a parking lot? I thought that was outlawed a long time ago. Some dude is making big bucks off those kids. I won't support him either. Sorry kids.

I pass on by. I've heard about people that have money scruffing themselves up, borrowing an older beat up van, then all standing at various corners to collect money. I know that some of those people really need it. Most of them get enough for a motel room for the night. Clean yourself up & start looking for work. Most homeless people are homeless by choice, not by circumstance. Thank goodness, they can't collect welfare & foodstamps all over the states anymore.

I don't feel it's right to do this, but I don't think it's right for the government to raise gas prices and land taxes. It is hard out their for families to keep afloat financially. I saw a family on the freeway, mom, dad and 2 kids. I gave them 20 bucks. I think it's really sad.

I pass them by. Years and years ago when we could trust people not to kill us, I stopped and helped people all the time. No longer will I do that. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I don't know who or what they are really doing, so I don't risk it. Perhaps a few stop or they wouldn't do it.

most of the time I pass them by whishing that I had something to give them all.I think they would not be doing that had they had what they were begging for !Some might be cheating ,and some might be on business .I can't differentiate betewen the two but still I long to help for I should do that.

I pass them by because it is a danger to them to encourage them that they will get rewarded for theiir efforts. I do not like to see it (begging) I fear that they might get run overed or physically harmed by mean people.

I stop if I can without causing a hazard. Yes they have the right because that's what living in America means. If I don't like what someone does, it doesn't make it wrong.
