Well, I recently viewed a younger female's question about height, and I guess I share the same question. I am 19 years old now and I am between 5"8-5"9. Every where I go, people say I am too tall. Many of the men that I have dated have shared the same views. Being tall has been a real soft spot in my life and it makes me some what insecure. I really (really) want to be shorter (I would give ANYTHING). I'm not asking for 5 inches, but a mere 2. Is there any way (or procedure) that would take off a little bit of height? Or is there anything I can do? With the younger girl, the answer was "you could stop growing", but in my case the damage has already been done. So is there any advice you can give me? I would really appreciate it.. Thanx!!

Okay, you're 19. I am 5-10, but am 34. And I tell you what, if men you are dating are telling you that you are too tall, then you're dating short men!! Find a taller man to date, but appreciate your height. We all have issues to work through, and if you can get past this one, it will be to your advantage later, I promise. You cannot change your height, so change the way you feel about it! Jump up and slap the door jamb with your hand....enjoy who you are!! And eventually, you will find a man that wants that extra height wrapped around him!!!! I did....

Throw your shoulders back, stand up straight, walk with pride, & you'll be stunning! I have a girlfriend back in NZ who's 6'1" who does exactly that. Men flock to her like moths to a flame!

Where do you live?

I'm living in Mexico at the moment & my suspicions were confirmed on Saturday.."You're very tall for a woman!"
As a tall woman in Mexico, I love that I can reach almost everything, & can see what's happening over everyone elses head!
I lived in Siberia last year, & it was the same.

I'm 5'4" & in New Zealand, my home country, I'm considered a short, petite woman. I was sacked from a summer job picking kiwifruit because I couldn't reach all the fruit. How Rude!
As a short woman in NZ, I found it supremely frustrating having to climb onto chairs to reach into my cupboards.

You can't do anything about your height other than come to terms with it. Are you sure people are saying "You're too tall"? Or is that what your mind is hearing? I suspect most comments are actually "You're tall" or "You're quite tall".

Look at the positives! And if anyone is rude enough to actually say you're TOO tall, spin it back on them..in the nicest possible way of course! No doubt a comment like that is coming from someone who has issues with their own 'vertically challenged' state.
Throw those shoulders back, girl!

Are you seroiusly asking this question are you kidding me??? Taller girls are usually really good looking. You should consider yourself lucky. I can't believe you actually want to become shorter. Just look at it like this most guys are taller than you anyways so does it really make a difference. Just dont judge people on their heights and they wont judge you on yours. I am actually your height and im 16 but I am a guy lol. And btw I am still one of the shortest guys ou there so what do you have to complain about. I am sure most girls would envy you! While I dont really think about it to much, I actually think a perfect girl for me would be around 5' 7" +. Only problem is that I am ALSO that height =p.

I think you should stop complaining! I don't mean this in a harmful way, mind you. I am also 19 years old, however I am exactly 5 feet tall! I'm really short, and I can't grow anymore. You need to stop thinking so negatively. Look at yourself in the mirror, are you pretty? If you're tall, you could be a model, something many girls can't do because they're too short. If you don't like that idea, try the military, you would excel at it with you're height. If someone thinks you're too tall, too bad for them! Don't lower yourself to their level (no pun intended). Stick it to them and be proud of yourself!

Why would you want to reduce your height? You can't anyway. I'm 5'9 and I love it, and I'm 17. I like standing out in a crowd. you're just meeting the wrong men. Find a guy that is in the 6'0 range. Look at all the popular models - Trya Banks: she's 5'9, Cindy Crawford: she's 5'8. Almost ALL of the top models are around that height because all the clothes they're modeling look best on tall girls. A lot of actresses are tall too. Face it, tall chicks just look good. "The long lean look." You know guys love long legs. If someone says "You're too tall" just think that they have no right saying that. It's your body, and it's none of their business. They're probably just jealous, SO many women want to be that height, believe me, I know. Why would you want to be shorter? Then you would be average. And who wants to be average? Not me, I love being 5'9. I know a girl that's 6'1, and she's proud of it. Please, be proud of yourself. Be glad you weren't born average! Hell, you should flaunt your height! I do, and I gets lots of attention! Screw all the people who say you're too tall!

Revel in your height! Americans are simply getting taller each generation, because as a society we act as though tall is sexually appealing. WELL, IT IS! I am the same height as you are, and I have no problem with insecurity or embarassment about being seen with or being with a taller woman. As long as she is secure in my company (and she would be) it is the WOMAN that matters, not her height, not her age, not her weight, not her race, not her breasts, not her bottom. Those are only numbers, and demographics. Build up your confidence to match your stature, and QUALITY men of many sizes will seek YOU. Best of luck to you and God Bless

My advice would be to work on your insecurity. I thought your height would be considered average. I'm 5' 8" and don't stand out as being tall. Don't go changing, try to be happy with what you have.

Wow! A taller girl. Wear flats and flat hair. Or stop your worries, you are not tall. Men love tall girls and long legs, wear short skirts and nobody will ever complain about anything. Make the most of what you have. My girls is less than 5 foot, she would swap with you anytime.
