It doesn't have to be. Fear and peace are less profitable in dollars or power. Be the change. Peace.

well... i bet your one of those people that is questioning this question because of your confusion of why the terrorist war is taking place...considering the fact that this is a big issue that most people have to face and decide if good or not... sorry by the way if I'm getting off topic or not "on your road".
I am a centrist with tilted view or conservatism so don't take me as a person forcing you on his or her side... (yet again big apologizes if this is not what you were aiming for). we started the war because of us wanting to bring democracy into Iraq... because we get oil...because ( I think, and a woman who lives in Italy who wrote a book about what is happening in Iraq, Iran and all the terrorists) if we don't get rid of this threat now then it will cause it to be an even bigger threat when they spread reproductively (no offense...I'm not racist...sorry if it seems that way)...I mean look what happened to France, they were surrounded. I know you may be thinking that we could of signed a special document with them enforcing peace. Sometimes peace is hard to get with a nation or group who insist on doing what they are doing according to they're religious beliefs....... Now.... this is another answer that may be more or so "on your mind".
We have wars because...sometimes a nation, group, society, etc cant be persuaded to peace and is an existing threat growing....another explanation may be that if a country is so jealous...so arrogant...so non-intelligent that they would rather destroy another country then have them prosper better (and I'm not talking about America but countries that are Communistic or that reveal that they aren't but still hold its ides, no offense)...there are many more reasons that through time made man fight. But overall, if there is no reason to be fighting or one just to get land, riches, etc...there is no point. The most effective ones are the ones that help you another nation, or the ones that make the future better.
These are my opinions and probably of many other living beings.

Because peace tends to be boring and humans like the action and drama by their very natures. We're overpopulated and, like too many rats in too crowded a cage, we tend to get violent. Peace is elusive because each segment of the world seems to think THEIR way is the ONLY way and they never waiver from that belief. There are a lot of causes for war. Peace... well, even the animals make war of a sort. So it's probably natural selection at work.

Simply because war solves the problem when diplomacy can't solve it.
War is essential my friend, enough of this hippy bullshit. Everyone who disagrees with the wars now, or just war in general are people what can't accept that there are people want to do harm to us. America has enemies and those enemies want to change our way of life.
I love peace..but only true peace, a peace where we don't have to look over our shoulder only to see a country with a radical ideology ex. communism, totalitarianism, countries that have radical Islamic Fundamentalists.
When that day comes my friend, that's when we have ended the wars.

Notice that wars are not started by people, but by their governments. The problem of war is not one of human nature, but rather of the nature of government.
Governments start wars for several reasons, perhaps the greatest of which is merely to give itself more power, for the primary purpose of any government is to perpetuate itself.
Without government, there could be no war. Those who would seek to end all war must therefore seek to end all government.

simply put the world isnt perfect, theres always going to be envy and greed, to answer the question you have to look at the source, why do we go to war? envy, greed, freedom, religious right and having that power over others... the world will never be equal, everyone is in a competition... war is fueled by these things. these distinctive traits are always inside of us. even if we refuse to recognize.

There is no such thing as peace with someone who will stab your wife and children to death, and there will always be people like that around.
Simply put, you want there to be a crimeless, absolutely just world. It has never existed. There will always be a struggle between society and anti-society.

Because we must FIGHT for PEACE. Peace is achieved through strength, not weakness.
Think of it this way...if you had to sleep one night in the middle of the floor in a maximum security prison with murderers and rapists all around. Would you sleep PEACEFULLY if all of them were in their own cells, locked away, or would you sleep just fine with all of the cell doors open and them roaming all around you while you slept? Our military is like those cell doors that keep you safe at night. They have a job to do...and without them, none of us could sleep in PEACE.

As long as humans experience greed, and desire, and the need to be aggressive, wars will be inevitable. Once we pass beyond the want to posses other peoples items, war will be obsolete.
