Try an orange oil product. I've seen one called Goo Gone that works wonders, and it's not hot enough to destroy the DVD case. I wouldn't suggest methylated spirits unless nothing less than that seems to work.

Believe it or not, I always use FunTak. It's that reuseable adhesive that looks like Play-doh that holds posters and stuff up on the walls without using tape. I roll a small piece into a ball and then just roll it around the remnants of the price sticker until it comes off. It removes the leftover sticker pieces as well as the gummy stuff. It works great and leaves no residue. I use it on my books and cd cases all the time.
Also you can try heating it with a hair dryer so that the adhesive part dries up and comes off by itself. Although I'm not sure I would try this on a collector's tin...I'm funny that way too.

Use a hair dryer or lighter. Gnetly heat the surface and it releases the glue. It should peel off easily.

A tiny bit of WD-40 will usually dissolve glue from stickers.

There is a solution you can get, I think it is lemonjuice-based. You might find it on the "As seen on TV" section in a store. It's just a liquid solution, and it really works, but it is very oily and greasy.

the prices are likely about a similar in preserving with plate, notwithstanding it does prevent cost switching and is extra in all chance to stay connected until eventually the plate is bought. usually the adhesive is water soluble, and springs off genuinely once you wash the plate.

"Goo Gone" works great on the stickers. It's not messy and works quickly.

use tape. if that doesn't work try rubbing alcohol and q-tips. if that doesn't work try windex and q-tips. just keep working at it, eventually it will come off. my husband freaks about stuff like that too, sillys!
