Is it a scent...
a taste...
a song..

And how far does it go back for you?

I have several things that do this for me...

The smells of lialacs...
The tast of grape juice...welches
A song by Earth Wind and Fire.

The earliest memory is when I taste the grape juice...how about you?

I can remember my sister being born and smells of having a new baby in the house. Aside from Johnson's baby powder I couldn't name them until years later when my brother was born and I was eleven. I'd recognize the scents and grab things from mother and ask her what the were for... Polyvisol vitamins and A & D ointment are two odors you never forget. *laugh* Oh, and the smell of baby blankets laundered in Ivory Snow.

Other than baby related early memories I can distinctly recall the taste of my first root beer, the smell of an entire hill covered in Jonquils when I was five and for some reason the first song that comes to mind is Itsy Bitsy Spider.

I remember a lake on a hot summer day as we travelled across Canada, and every trip I see a stretch of road and I remember that trip. Sometimes a smell will trigger something in the past but its like a blurry vision, sometimes my heart may race a little faster but I just can't put my finger on what it is

Nothing ... I can't remember my childhood ... my earliest memory that I have (that I don't falsely remember because someone told me about it) is from when I was 10, and I went back to school after my father died. Even now I have a shoddy memory for things that happened to me last week or whenever, but I can remember movie lines like forget about it!

Studies have shown that the sense of smell is most closely related to memory.

The smell of bananas bring back the memory of an arttack on me. Needless to say, I don't like them.

Beer and cigarette smell makes me think of my Dad.

Sweet Peas remind of my old home.

The smell of gasoline causes me to become very frightened, but I don't have any idea why.

Scent, probably. I smell certain perfumes and it trigers early memories of hugging my mom, my aunt, or my grandmother.

My earliest memory is receiving a doll for my fourth birthday in the mail.

i had no recollection of that... but i had a dream once about that incident, it was dawn... i saw the headlights of the bike, and then the pain of my right forehead...

smells usually reminds me of the past... especially when i was 3 or 4, when my sister was a baby...

For me, in the past, a lot of things had happened in the rain. So whenever it rains, it triggers a lot of memory and emotion of the past..

Mostly visual, and the smells. I can in great detail describe my grandparents house, what it looks like, how many steps they have in there house, the smell of the house. Everything.
