Try using Blender, it lets users create high quality 3D graphics, movies and replay real-time, interactive 3D content. It's open source, so it's free! Check it out here: http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Applications.57.0.html
Another open source program similar to PhotoShop (and free) is Gimp. You can find that here: http://www.gimp.org/about/
