It seems as if everyone hates Bush these days... What's your take?

In my opinion it is the media...

I think most people in the broadcast media were communications or theater majors. They aren't really journalists, and certainly didn't pay attention during civics class. They attribute a lot of things to any sitting president that aren't part of a president's responsibility.

Personally, I think Bush is doing a fairly good job fighting terrorism, and protecting the country. I'm not entirely happy with his stance on illegal immigration. The budget deficits are another matter. Congress is responsible for the federal budget, but for it to get enacted, the president has to sign it. I'm also not happy with his creation of the department of homeland security. It's a huge bureaucracy created because two other bureaucracies (FBI and CIA) wouldn't share information with each other. More tax dollars wasted.

I am a Democrat. I used to vote split ticket and sometimes I still do but I've found most Republicans do not take much action to protect the Earth and wildlife. Republicans seem to care more about having a good economy than the environment and Democrats seem to care more about protecting the environment than the economy. So Republicans are short-sighted. They do not consider how their actions are going to have an impact down the road. They are only concerned about the here and now. Yet, for some reason, most of the people who choose to live out in the country and hunt, fish and camp are Republicans.

George Bush is worse then the typical Republican and a habitual liar too. He isn't a very good one though- at least for those who pay attention, look at the BIG picture and keep an open mind by not viewing things with strong emotion- just the facts. Many people were raised to be staunchly patriotic in a military family. They are ready to believe what the president says and go to war without doing their research and questioning why. It is almost like a religion to them. They staunchly defend George Bush like he is a friend and they wouldn't dare even question his actions. These are also the same people who call gays "fags" and make fun of people who belong to any religion other than Christianity. There is a lot more very time consuming research I could do on the Bush administration's involvement w' Iraq etc. but I don't need to to know that our current gov't is very corrupt. All I did was use my common sense.

Let me ask you this.

Why is it that our military has bases all over the world but none of the other countries have any military bases on our land? Is that fair?

Does it make sense that George Bush says on national TV that Saddam Hussein is a very dangerous man and is hiding terrorists so we need to go to war with them but when we send our troops and that of England and Canada to deal with this mighty and dangerous enemy who is personally a threat to our homeland security, we plow through there and sieze there capital within only a week? Doesn't that seem a little lopsided? If they really were that dangerous, wouldn't they have a military that at least rivaled our own that warranted them being invaded? The only way they could fight back was to burn the oil wells that we were going to take possession of. It was a desperate act by a much weaker opponent. But why was our military trying to take possession of their oil reserves anyway? That's right. Because our gov't wants their oil. Maybe it makes more sense that our gov't lied and made them look dangerous to us so that we would have enough people enlisting in the military in order to take over their country just so that we could get their oil because we've now tapped all our oil reserves here and we are running out on places to drill. Do you really think George Bush actually cares about the welfare of the Iraqis? Then why isn't their state of living any better? It's actually worse.

Also, after spending billions on this "war on terrorism", and putting us further in debt, causing the need to cut thousands of porgrams to help the disabled and poor, he then turns around and approves funding for a project to further exploration on Mars, which is going to cost billions more. He's a real nut. We have a man with no moral principles as president of our country.

And these are the things that George Bush will be remembered for. Clinton is remembered mainly for his affair with Monica Lewinski in the Oval Office. But he did a lot of good. Who remebers that? I voted for him a second time after we heard about the affair. I care what he does for our country- not what he does with other women. Is this worse than being remembered as the president who sent thousands of troops into war to endanger their lives with faulty equipment when they didn't even pose a real threat?

I am and have always been an independent. I have voted for both Republican and Democratic candidates, always choosing which person I thought would best help our country under the circumstances.

I chose moderates always. People who are willing to compromise, to understand both sides of the issue, people who are willing to work for what's best of the majority of Americans.

Example: As a long-time resident of California I supported and gave my time to Arnold. I will campaign for and vote for him again. I also voted for Clinton because I thought he was doing a pretty damn good job.

My beef with Dubya is what I see as a strong lack of scruples, of real moral fiber.

He is not a McCain or a Reagan. Hate him or not, Ronnie at least had scruples.

I'm a republican. But that does'nt mean I'm totally sold out to a certain party. Concerning Pres. Bush; do all these critics really think they could do a better job? That man has major decisions on his plate everyday. I'm surprised he is not wrecked with constant migranes. I think he is doing as good as anyone could expect. Look at Carter, and Nixon, There's 2 Presidents that really put a dampner on the office.

Media shmedia! Bush has made a mockery of these good ole united states....the media didn't make up the iraqi war, the media didn't lie to the public, the media didn't break the geneva convention, the media didn't try to sell major east coast ports to an arab country......etc. etc. etc.---and that's just the tip of the ice berg! Do I sound like a lame-brained idiot Republican to you?

I am of no party. I use to be a Democrat( left because of th actions of members in Congress I did not aproved of) and for a while a Republican( left because of the same reasons I left the Democrat party). I am of no party now, as I vote and support the person I feel is best for the office they are running for. Voting for a party only is not being honest with yourself or what you want in the goverment. Issues that are needed to be addressed should be what puts one in office not the party they belong to and what a person stands for is more honest to this country. Fighting for something you do agree is what is important, but to vote for the person running because he is of a certain party does not make a lot of sence to me. It is better to put someone in office that can help get things done that you want and believe in than because of what party they belong to.
