Only if they are fully automated.
The typical American driver can't even handle driving in 2 dimensions. There is no way in hell they can drive in 3.
On the other hand, if they made the license to drive them extremely difficult to get, maybe traffic would be better.

Let the clods who can't figure out how to get out of the fast lane take a flying ******* bus!!!

On the other hand, Europeans, especially Germans, could probably handle flying cars today. They are very disciplined, they follow the rules, and they are better drivers.

And yes, I am an American saying this.

Probably not considering the auto industry is dragging its heels making ones which use alternative fuels like hydrogen pellets when the tech already exists to produce them.

no, all the prototypes have been to large, inefficient on fuel, way too much $ to manufacture, or to cumbersome to manuever. There has been research and development on this for over 50 years and no real contender.
