B12 is important for prevention of Megaloblastic anemia.

I'll take a wild guess. B12 helps absorb intrinsic factor (from the stomach) which does something in the form of uptake of iron I think. It keeps you from getting pernicious anemia.

Anemia...especially bone marrow mediated. Help bone marrow produce normal red blood cells that last longer in your bloodstream
