The Bible is a mix of history, old laws, prophecy (fulfilled and still-to-come), proverbs, and letters. (Prolly a few other things, but those are the main ones.)

It tells how the world was formed and some of the great stories from the past (like Noah and the ark, Joseph being sold into slavery, Solomon and his wisdom, David and Goliath, etc.) It was the law for people before Jesus came. It tells the story of Jesus's birth, life, miracles, death, and resurrection. It includes letters written by the disciples to the early Christian churches encouraging them, and prophesies of what will happen when Jesus comes back to earth to take his followers to heaven.

It is, obviously, primarily a religious text. But it is also widely accepted as a history source. It is absolutely all true, but regardless of whether or not you believe that or care about the religious instructions it includes, it's a good read just for all the stories. The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) all tell the story of Jesus's life. There is no other story like that in history. Definitely worth at least checking out.

The Bible is a collection of 66 books. The Christian Bible includes the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament was written originally in Hebrew and is very similar to the Jewish Bible. The New Testament was originally written in Greek. There are many translations into many languages. Which is the best one? The one you understand and will read.

The Old Testament contains the stories of God's works and interaction with his people. In reading the Old Testament we discover God as creator, as righteous and interested in being in relationship with a people who continually break their promises while God remains faithful.

In the New Testament we find the story of Jesus, fully human, fully God, come to close the gap between humanity and loving God. The Gospels (first four books of the New Testament) each tell his story. The remainder of the New Testament are mostly letters written to the new followers of Jesus as they began to live changed lives, gathered into communities and dealt with the problems and persecutions that confronted them.

The Bible is not a novel and it can be hard to read. But it is real, with very real people, not a made up fairy tale where everyone looks polished. People in the Bible screw up all the time; it's one way we learn about God's forgiveness and amazing power to change lives.

The color of the outside binding cover can be anything from black, as you metion, to beautiful sparkling colors. But the real beauty is inside. If you need one, go into any church and take one, they'll be glad you did! And so will you. Start with the book called Mark, it's a great read.

Yes, the Bible does tell what's coming. Jesus is coming back. When he was here (about 2000 years ago) Jesus told his followers some of what it would be like when he did return. God tells his trusted messengers what He's going to do (remember God's interested in relationship--and communication's a big part of that). Check it out--the library has copies, too... even on the internet BibleGateway.com. Here's the link to the New Living translation book of Mark http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%201&version=31

The bible is God's word. It was written by Jesus' Disciples some thousand years ago. But it was not just a book. these chapters took many years to complete and unify into a "Bible". Basicly, the Bible is a "Guideline" for daily life that all christians need to follow. It has some straight out rules, like the ten commandments. But, it is mostly composed of stories and tales. If you want to look at the future, then turn to the last chapter, "revelations". If you want to know what happens when we die, read the whole book. (By the way, bibles don't have to be black.)
So please, pick up a bible and read today. (If you have any more questions, e-mail me at ht9150@yahooo.com)

The bible is a book, it is actually suppose to be a book about the past, a long, long time ago, sort of like a history book. It's suppose to be actual events that happened and facts. There's the old testament that is what happened before Christ, and then there's the new testament, what happened after Christ. And depending on your religion will depend on which testament or both testaments you believe/read. It is not suppose to tell the future. It's a history book. There of course is the question of who wrote it, well some men, but how they know what is the truth, and then there's the interpretation of it too. The old testament is suppose to tell us how the world began. The new testament is suppose to tell us about Christ. I'm not religious so I won't say if I believe either, nor will I make any comment on what others believe. To each their own.

Some call it "the Book of Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Some call it a way for lazy people (church leaders, evangelists, book sellers, etc) to make money of hardworking productive people who actually make true valued wealth. All true wealth comes from the soil (mineral, plant and animal life). These things can manipulated through the application of work or thought. If reading the Bible gives us the ability to work better on this planet than it is (True Wealth). Mostly it tells the story of Jesus. Predicting His coming in the old testament then His life then His return.

The Bible isn't always black, it comes in many different colors. That isn't the important part though, it's what's inside that is the absolute TRUTH. It's the true word of God. The Bible tells many stories, parables, etc. Yes, it tells what will happen when Jesus returns to earth! It tells us that all who believe in him will go to heaven to be with God. As for the rest of the people...well, that's a loooooong explanation found by reading the book of Revelation. I encourage you to read the Bible and find out that God sent Jesus, His only son to die just for you...He loves you so much that he would do that for you! One cannot just explain the Bible in this one setting, I will pray for you, that you will read this wonderful amazing Bible and come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior!

This has to be a joke...how can someone not know what a bible is in this day and age?

Even though I think this is a joke, here is a link that should tell you everything you need to know about the bible. As with just about anything else, it's always best to get the information about something directly from the source.

The Bible tells the story of the world's creation and of people who have lived before us. It also tells us many lessons about love, compassion, patience and many virtues that a person should possess. It does not only tells a story but compels us to reflect on the lives of people in the Bible and the events that happened before, during and after Jesus. Like many Holy books of the different religions in the world, it is a book of many truths and is a guide for us to live lives worthy of God's blessings.

When you read it, it becomes God's living, breathing word to you. There are beautiful stories, poems and love songs.

It is true that they used to be all bound in black or white leather, but you can actually get them in lots of different forms now, including magazine style and comic books, CDs and tapes.
