I am married to an Egyptian that is a muslim and we were married in a mosque in the US. He is Sunni muslim. We were only married in a mosque, we never got married legally in the courts. About 3 months ago we went our seperate ways. I don't believe he ever went to the mosque to ask for a divorce and he has never said anything to me about it but we have not talked in 3 months. We have no children together. My question is under Islam are we still married or not? In my heart I feel we are but I am not sure. Thanks for any advice.

Dear sister in Islam,

May Allah be with you during these times. If he did not say "I divorce you" or anything like that I believe you are still Islamicly married, but I would advise you to go to your local Masjid and seek help from the Imam or Scholar there.

Ask someone in your religion. A Muslim cleric or something. If you never married legally, whatever that means, you may not be.
