Personally I feel nothing. I am proud to be an American but a flag does not mean America to me. I am proud to be an American because of the people I know, grew up with and shaped my life. The community I live in is full of good people who make America a place where I can be proud to live. One hundred years ago the flag was completely different, it changes but the important things never change.

When and if I observe a flag burning, I feel very thankfull that this country still allows the citizens to express themselves. If I disagree with the political tactics that the flag is being used for, then I or anyone should and is allowed to burn it in civil protest. The US Flag is not a symbol of the past, it is a beacon of hope for the living and the free.

I've never seen it, but if I did, I'd probably think "what an idiot".

Wait a minute. I HAVE seen it happen. It was on TV, and it was a bunch of Boy Scouts burning them because they were old. Unpatriotic jerkoffs.

And not that you asked, but I think that the best way to get flags burned would be to make it illegal. That would bring out all the freaks trying to prove a point.

I gotta be honest I dont care. I feel good knowing that I served five years in the Marine Corps so that I and other Americans can enjoy all sorts of freedoms, including burning a flag should they feel so inclined.

Keep in mind that burning the national ensign is the only way to properly dispose of it.

I'd wonder if they would get caught, and I'd wonder why they were burning it in the first place. Maybe I'd even feel slightly sad, because that's a senseless thing to do, and that flag used to mean a lot to our forefathers, at least.

wow...uncovering the closet patriot in myself ;)

Well it is a piece of cloth but its symbolic but like any other object in your home to anybody else it may mean nothing but it holds special feelings for you. So when somebody burns the flag from my country it pisses me off.

I've spent 20 plus years defending what my flag stands for, I would get the same type of anger and outrage if someone were to spit on my mother's face, It is that despicable to me

Anger and remorseful I fought for the flag and hate to see it desegregated.

indifferent...it's just a piece of cloth. I'd rather have them burn a flag than hurt somebody.
