i got a new alveranz today, and it sounds brilliant when i play it, and it gets really addictive to where i keep going and going. but the strings are murder to my fingers, and they feel like that are bruised and they even sting a little. what are those things proffesional guitarest use to put over their fingers so that they can play longer, and where can i get some in st.augustine

guitar center....get some extra light strings....and keeping playing.............like dont stop...everyday...they wont hurt anymore.......GOOD LUCK WITH THAT :)

Yeah, definitely keep playing the way you do. Your fingers will get used to it. What I did when I was starting to play was after a good long session, I would take four ice cubes out of the freezer and put my aching fingertips on each one, on a plate and watch TV or something. Alleviated the pain like THAT (snaps fingers).

How long have you been playing? Most beginners do have a lot of problems with their fingers hurting. If you play everyday, in a month or so you're finger tips will begin to develop caluses and you will no longer feel the pain from playing.

I started playing guitar a year ago; for the first few weeks, my fingers developed incredibly sore, tender callouses. If you keep at it, your fingertips will toughen up, you won't feel any more pain, and you'll be able to do slides and bends without cringing!
