My answer to this question comes on many levels, but involves a great deal of personal opinion. I'll give you the short version: We've gone through this before... it was called the Cold War. I suggest you familiarize yourself with that before you ask questions of this nature. Additionally, the President of the United States of America is not the supreme being of the world. Just because he does not like something, doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants (well, supposedly...). Invading a country does nothing to help peace in our world. War help nobody.
The United States has been around for over two hundred years. In recent years many of our enemies have developed missiles not just Iran. Its funny how we're still around...

I'm just going to refer to the lyrics from Weird Al Yankovic's song "Christmas at Ground Zero": :-)
It's Christmas at ground zero
There's music in the air
The sleigh bells are ringing and the carolers are singing
While the air raid sirens blare
It's Christmas at ground zero
The button has been pressed
The radio just let us know
That this is not a test
Everywhere the atom bombs are dropping
It's the end of all humanity
No more time for last-minute shopping
It's time to face your final destiny
It's Christmas at ground zero
There's panic in the crowd
We can dodge debris while we trim the tree
Underneath the mushroom cloud
You might hear some reindeer on your rooftop
Or Jack Frost on your windowsill
But if someone's climbing down your chimney
You better load your gun and shoot to kill
It's Christmas at ground zero
And if the radiation level's okay
I'll go out with you and see all the new
Mutations on New Year's Day
It's Christmas at ground zero
Just seconds left to go
I'll duck and cover with my Yuletide lover
Underneath the mistletoe
It's Christmas at ground zero
Now the missiles are on their way
What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked
On this jolly holiday

Many are going to die. Perhaps we can blow it out of the sky. However, I think 4 or 5 months is a little soon for Iran. China is currently happy taking over by hitting our trade, Japan also, happy taking our wealth. North Korea on the other hand, has one, and the powers that be there would be happy for the attention. And if we cross his line he will use it. Power can be a bad thing.

well the BIBLE is fore-filling fast if you read REVELATIONS you'll see that we are living in the last days. you ask why wont the president do anything. RUSSIA and CHINA the next two biggest military in the world with capabilities of nuclear weapons have made it clear if the US bombs IRAN that they will back IRAN up. now if the US did do this, ( which is going to happen sooner or later) there would be a far more greater risk of being killed by a nuclear bomb than now. but the BIBLE sez in the last days there will be a world war, this is all it could take to bring this true.

I'm in the Army, stationed in the Republic of Korea (South Korea). The only missiles I know of being made are the ones being made by North Korea and they'll only reach Alaska. So, they won't be able to target major cities in the continental U.S., but we aren't the world police. Just like every American citizen has the right to defend themselves/bear arms, other countries have the right too. Until, we feel threatened by these, we should leave them alone.

It's stupid to compare today's situation with the cold war. The Soviet Union was run by geniuses compared to the lunatics in North Korea and Iran. Plus, technology has advanced incredibly in the 16 years since the end of the cold war. The U.S. may be forced to intervene if and when these countries have the capability of reaching the U.S. with nuclear weapons. North Korea is getting very close.

Actually, nukes are more for threat than anything. WE were the only ones nutsy enough to drop hydrogen bombs on another country. Nukes are even worse because the fallout drifts and can contaminate places other than where they are set off. The contamination also lasts a lot longer. So the basic idea is: "I got a big bomb, don't make me use it....." It's bully tactics just like we use on other countries.
As for the president being a moron... ummm... have you not ever seen one of his press conferences where he has to answer question on the fly? He IS an idiot.

Plain and simple:
Iran is all talk just like the United Nations they will not do anything no matter how many missiles they might have because they know that there are many allies with each nation and especially not with the United States because they know that we could easily invade them since we are in Iraq already :)

We have our own missiles that will detonate and take out any missiles that try and come our way. I don't necessarily agree with what the President does, but I do believe that he is human enough not to want to die! Therefore he will do whatever it takes not to let what you just described happen to us.

Washington doesn't care weather we live or die. They are only interested in Summer recess and pay raises for themself. A missle attack so what they did't care before 9/11 did they? A missle attack no Hillery and Kerry types wont't even prevent the U.S. flag from being burned.
