Serbia is an ancient name. It was a kingdom hundreds of years ago until it was conquered by the Turks. In more recent times, Serbia and Montenegro were parts of Yugoslavia, a conglomerations of peoples, languages and animosities that the Great Powers (wonder who named them that...) put together after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire (Turks) after their defeat in World War One.
