Since this is in the newborn and baby section, I am going to assume that you have a newborn. They will eat every 3 or so hours if formula feed and every 1 1/2 to 2 hours if breast fed. You can't expect a new baby to sleep all night for a while. Most likely she is waking because she is hungry so just feed her. She will get older and start sleeping through the night. All of us with children have been sleep deprived when our babies were younger. She will start sleeping more as she gets older.
If she is older and should be sleeping through the night then she is probably sleeping too much during the day or her afternoon nap is either too long or too late in the day. Also, if you set up a routine at night she will start to follow after a while. Example is:
Feed her dinner, give her a bath, read a book to her in her room while giving her a bottle then nighttime.
I rocked my babies to sleep after a bath and bottle everynight. We do the same things every night so when we start with the bath they know that bedtime is coming and when it is time to go to sleep they don't fight me.

I have this theory. I do not know how old your child is as you do not state the age.

My theory is this, and this is after seriously thinking about it over the years.

I was born at 1:30am I am a night owl. I cannot sleep at night. All the people I know that were born during the 'overnight' hours are also night owls. My theory indicates that the time you are born into this world indicates your sleep schedule. Your child, if she was born during the 'overnight' hours, will have a difficult time sleeping through the 'overnight' hours. You will just have to be patient with her and as she grows and develops, work with her as you can to keep her on a regular sleep schedule. Do activities a few of hours before you have her scheduled to go to sleep. Try to make those activities mental ones if possible. Just like it is not recommended to exercises two hours before bed for adults, I would say the same with children. Try to limit the naps during the day/afternoon as well, they may become cranky, but this should also help to prevent them from staying awake in the wee hours of the morning.

Good luck.

I don't know how old your baby is but, most babies eat every three to four hours...so, you are going to have nighttime feedings and my opinion is that you should give her the milk so she's "satisfied" with her full tummy. Eventually, she'll sleep thru the night...don't let her nap a long time during the day and when she does sleep, if you can, you sleep too....you'll be better equipped to handle the feedings that way....I don't know if you are breast feeding but, that really takes alot of time. Good luck.

Try to add a little bit of baby cereal to her last bottle before you put her to sleep. She will sleep longer and probably will sleep all night. Just remember to feed her when she is hungry. If she wakes up in the middle of the night hungry then it will only agravate both of ya'll if she does not get food or milk. Depending on how old she is, maybe she could be started on baby food stage 1 maybe, veggies and fruits.

If you have already feed your baby and you don't think it is because she is hungry it might have something to do with her surroundings is the room too quite maybe try adding a small fan to the room or something that sounds like your womb so she can hear the noise. I am currently breast feeding my baby and she was having so much trouble sleeping at night til I added a fan and now she sleep 6-7 hours at night. hope that will help you. :)

Every baby has different feeding needs. It depends on the age of your baby when it is safe to withdraw a midnight feeding. Please discuss with your doctor before taking food away too soon. If she is crying, she is hungry or wet. Take care of her and do not force her to your will. I did not get sleep for the first 7 months of my son's life. He was born early and needed fed every 2 hours.

My baby is 10 months old. She does this. She promptly wakes up every 3-4hrs!!! Sometimes she drinks 2-3 oz of milk. Sometimes she passes gas and sleeps back! and i do not believe in putting them to sleep when they are hungry! Some babies drink to fullest and take gud long sleep babies like mine have small capacities of consumption. She has 4-5oz milk at a time so obviously she cud get hungry after sometime!

I donno if u cud "train" her not to cry! She's still small. All babies are different. Eventually she wud learn to sleep throughout the night. Till such time be patient.

You might want to try a bedtime routine. This would be something like bath time, a feeding, a story, and then into bed. It might take a a week or so for the child to get used to, it depends on their age. This only works with an older baby. Younger babies tend to dictate their schedule to you.

How old is your baby? They generally don't get on a sleeping schedule until at least a month in or so...if she's hungry, let her eat. It's just part of parenting...it doesn't last forever..eventually they do sleep through the night. Good luck!
