With VERY high-speed, VERY expensive connections. For example, this company provides connections up to 10 Gb (typically 1000-5000x faster than most broadband connections).

they are link to the web through a server just like dial up ISPs. They just offer better download and upload speeds than dial up does because they use different technology to transfer the information. I could go more in depth than that if you want just let me know.
