About 2 hours by train. Not need to answer your question about driving you would have to be out of you mind to drive or be driven on the Grand Trunk Road when you can take a nice comfortable train.

One you would not dare drive on Indian roads yourself and second you going to pay thought the nose to get a driver or taxi just to be frightened out of your wits..what's the rate now per Km. (since I never take them if forget) is it about 10-15 RP per Kilometer (and you have to pay round trip).

Listen I spend 3 months in India every year and I would not take those roads. Please do yourself a favor and get a nice train....

Of course you might actually want to take a bus in which case you phrased your question incorrectly. By bus it should not be longer than 2-3 hours. Many people leave in the morning by train see the Thaj and Red Fort and return on an evening train. Let me check my "Lonely Planet"! Still safer by train than by bus!

Enjoy India

The best train to take is the Shatadbi Express leaving New Delhi at 6:00 am and arriving Agra around 8:00 (this train gives you the most time in Agra it Departs Agra around 20:00 (get used to military time its all they use in India (8pm) check when you buy your ticket schedules change. If you are a budget traveler try not to stay in Agra it is not a nice place and many westerners get sick there...there is no reason to hang around Agra.....OK good luck and write me if you have any other questions regarding India
