Both.
Who did it? God.
What did God do? Create the heavens and the Earth.
How did God do it? By using techniques available at such a high order that only today are scientists beginning to understand some of the complexities of it all.
See, scientists and theologists are climbing up the same hill, but on different sides of the hill. Once they get to the top, they will be able to see that they were both achieving the same goals and truths.
The fact that the things God created are believed to be from magic is amazing. Understand that the "Big Bang" theory does not exclude God's presence, but only accounts for the forces at work to produce the universe. This is the "science" of God. Remember, God has Angels to assist in accomplishing the Will of God.
The method God used to create the universe appeared to later scientists as the "Big Bang." Liken this to the explosion of a kernal of corn that creates a different looking product called "popcorn." Now, imagine yourself as a fly on the wall. Could you understand what just happened to that kernel of corn? Would you call it magic because you didn't understand the series of events taking place to alter the kernel's appearance?
Well, this is far from the relativity of human's intelligence compared to an entity that has been around for before the beginning time as we know it.
Just remember, the "Big Bang" theory only explains the processes to produce the universe, not the authors of those processes.

Its not proven at all. I strongly disregard it because first of all what atom would be lying in the middle of a trillion mile galxey and somehow another atom colides with it and they blow up and create those beautiful sun sets you see every evening. If you were to examine a human, there would be no way an atom collison could have made it. All the complex cells, veins, organs, etc. The only answer that I think can be true is that a super natural being made us, and I beleive that is God. There is more proof of God's existence than anything else. That's why I have so much faith in God and not the big bang theory

We know, as a thoery strongly supported by facts, that the universe began with a tremendous and sudden, vast expansion in all directions on a scale that is totally incomprehensible to the human mind. This thoery has been refined, tested, verified, retested, questioned, reposed, and refined some more to the point that physicists will devote thier life's work to researching slivers of time consisting of as little as 10^-55 seconds that occurs just fractions of a second after the begining of the universe.
The theory is now nearly incontrovertable fact. Also, it was nothing like an atom bomb explosion. It was more like every point in space suddenly leaping away from every other point, doubling the size of the universe every 10^-35 seconds.
The "sound waves" another poster referenced are actually microwaves left over from the initial cooling of the universe after the inflationary period, and constitute perhaps the best evidence for inflationary / big-bang thoery to date.

Proven? No, not proven, a good theory however since the universe continues to expand t seems logical that the expansion had to happen from a certain single point...I believe that God created the universe, and He probably did it with a bang.
If you want to find God in the Big Bang theory or theory of evolution, it is very very easy to do.

Well, there are some interesting data that seem to prove the big bang. Scientists have observed that the earth is expanding and some believe to be the aftermath of Big Bang. There are also sound waves or something like that that are still traveling through the universe. However, the Big Band actually matches up pretty closely to the biblical account of creation. Scientists have theorized that the universe used to be a huge dense mass, so dense that not even light could penetrate it. But then, it started to expand. At some point, it reached a density that light was able to pass through. "And God said 'Let there be light!'"

It was God. "They" say they have proved evolution and the "Big Bang". That is because so many people are willing to believe anything except that there is a God that created all of this. To admit this would mean that they have to acknowledge that he has a plan for their life and that they should obey him. They can not possibly prove that the Big Bang happened. No matter what evidence they have they can't prove it. I happened to long ago if it did happen for there to be any proof left. God may have used the Big Bang to start all of this or he could have spoke it into existence just as it is now. He said that he did some things to confound the wise. No matter how he did it the fact is that God did it.

actually a of people would say Religion and Science will never meet, but actually, the start of the Big Bang theory was a great explosion which made it significant with the presence of light. if you will recall, what did God say during the first day of creation?... He said "let there be light" . light is int he form of energy, where it is accompanied with various physico-chemical events such the production of heat or the changes in the free energy in the environment. a number of successive events followed. In my own opinion, the explosion would have not been possible without the force that had given such energy, where do you think such energy could have come from? I beleive that God is responsible for such. be strong in your faith. the chaotic theory only proves a part of the grand design.

Big Bang Theory has a lot of evidence supporting it:
* The Hubble catalogue, showing the expansion of space
* The cosmic microwave background, a radiation sea left over from the big bang
* Time dilation of distant supernovae, showing the universe is expanding in time as well as space
* Measurement of a hotter cmbr sea in the past, showing that the universe evolved from a hotter state
* Radio source vs flux count showing that the universe state has changed over time
* The Tolman surface brightness test ruling out competing explanations such as "tired light", etc
The big bang theory basically states that the universe evolved into what it is today from a hotter, denser state. There is nothing in this premise which goes against a god-created universe, in fact the catholic church has embraced big bang theory as fitting with church dogma.
In my experience any disagreement between science and religion over the universe's existence stems from rigid adherance to the bible (or other holy book). Remember that according to your religion your god created two things - the universe, and the holy book. Which one of those two is the more significant? generally I would look at the universe (which is what science does) to understand how nature works, and I would look at the holy book to understand how to be a good person.
Hope this helps!

its not an atom bomb silly, and its only a theory that some dumb scientists came up with because they are too shallow to believe that god actually created the world. and also.. would you be as shallow in your own faith as to believe that "big bang" theory... i wouldnt. so its your own choice their buddy. i guess you can believe what you want.
ok, nevermind, i take it all back.... but i still think god created the universe... somehow, someway he did.
