I'm with G.M.
The US Supreme Court said burning the flag is symbolic "speech."
Only recently have I experienced anger over the actions of my government enough to understand why someone would want to express their rage in this manner. I would not do it, but I can understand the SC's reasoning now.
We don't need a Constitutional amendment.

I am afraid I can never understand the minds of people who want to burn the flag of their own country. It really beggers belief. If you really want to burn your own flag, why dont you go and live somewhere else in the world?
If you cant be loyal to your own country and the founding fathers who made America free, then perhaps try Afganistan, or China, spending some time in these countries might just make you feel that America is a great place to live and how fortunate you really are!
If you are not happy with the powers that be in government, then write letters to them, and join a political party that is in line with your thinking.
But most of all you have a mighty God, you could try praying to Him.
God Bless America!

I think if its so important for the ones that want to burn it to make a statement then the flag must mean something.Everyone has the right to there own opinion but there are rules we need to abide by.If something means so much to someone then they should go to the highest authority to discuss the matter. If they feel like they need to burn the United States Flag to make there point then maybe they should go live in another country where there rules are more to there liking.

I think they are unsure wether people should be not just allowed, but technically bound to keep a fire weapon at home and laws like that that applied very well back then but are a little dangerous nowadays.
Besides they're getting tired of politicians abusing their rights of freedom of speech to publish adult magazines and that sort of stuff.
But I can understand what you say and I can absolutely relate. I think parts of it just don't need any changing.
I think the thing we should be thinking about is choosing a brained president that doesn't send troops overseas because they made him mad over there.
I think no one should be allowed to burn the flag, but to recycle it at least. First of all, there should be a law that prohibits using it everywhere and for everything, like stickers for your car or to adorn your bedroom. If only meaningful flags were made, THEN it could be banned to burn any of them.

as far as i know, the attempt to pass the amendment failed (not sure if another attempt has been recently made) because the outlawing of the right to burn the american flag infringes on the freedom of speech.
in my opinion, i think people should have the right to burn the flag if they so choose, not in disrespect of the nation, but to show how they feel of what america represents, or because they strongly strongly disaprove of how the government is funtioning.

I disagree with changing the the constitution, but I also disagree that people have a right to burn a symbol of our American freedom. I can't stop them from doing what they want in their own property, but I wish they'd keep it to themselves.

First, burning the flag is not free SPEECH, it’s an action. And, it is an action of disrespect. Second, I can’t understand how a true patriot would ever want to burn our flag.

I think is because of a deep seeded belief that republicans hold.
Most people are stupid and need we need to protect them from themselves.
Do some research on Neo Cons...it's really scary stuff, and completely relevant to current events.
