More bang for the buck. The Gates foundation is already well established and has its overhead covered, so more of Buffett's money would go towards charitable use rather than paying to start up and run a new foundation. So if they (Buffett and the Gates') have similar intentions, they can join forces and do greater good. Plus Buffet doesn't have the kind of ego that would require him to seek attention by starting his own foundation.

Because Bill Gates foundation is helping the kids out. That's pretty simple. He has a great foundation. He is leading the help in fighting aids among other illnesses
