poetry is repeating your name over and over and over
in the midst of watching you slowly spin with your arms wide open
and your hair floating above the softest of shoulders
creating a dance worth writing about
(and even though its all in my head)
i can see you right in front of my face, forcing my fingers to move
and opening my heart to spill this out
just to watch your eyes turn from left to right once your captured
into reading love--do you like reading love put to a sentence?
jumping off the starlight, ive somersaulted into
every last trace of your hand.

I would love for someone to look into my eyes and tell me this poem... it is very creative and a lot more professional than many of the poems I have read on here. YOURS is worth reading!!!!

Well, a lot of people appreciate poetry for the gesture, even if it may not amount to anything literally. Personally, I think it's too risky to use poetry, because as you assumed, it may come off as "stupid" rather than "sweet," even though it might be motivated as a "sweet" gesture.
