Annie, you are killing me.I just ran a search on The Washington Post web site for any article with Iran in it,for June 19Th. It came up with 11, 2 repeats, 2 on soccer. It took about 30 min to read. The closest thing to any thing you said was this.

In Iran in 2001, pro-American demonstrations erupted spontaneously -- not because of anything practical that the United States had done, but merely because the United States spoke for the freedoms that the demonstrators wanted.

That was the people, not the Government. We(the U.S) did think the people would rise up, they didn't. If you got the wrong date, please don't hesitate to let me know, I'll read that day as well.

It is not a case of 'what would I do'! GW Bush is a willing accomplice to the powers that be, and playing brinkmanship with not only us, but the world:
____________________________________________________
Back in 2003:

"The official overture that Iran made to the United States back in 2003, shortly after the fall of Baghdad. Iran, apparently, was full ready to agree to safeguards on its nuclear program, work with the United States to stabilize Iraq, take "decisive action" against terrorists, end "material support" for Palestinian militias and accept a Saudi proposal for a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in exchange for negotiations and economic cooperation. These are the sorts of concessions U.S. diplomats would eat their hats for today".

But Bush administration officials turned it down, because they were "convinced that the Iranian government was on the verge of collapse." The war in Iraq, it seemed, made some hawks a bit too giddy for diplomacy (remember, this was back in the "Mission Accomplished" days, when neoconservatives thought Baghdad had been conquered and were dreaming of marching troops into Tehran and Damascus next). So now the administration finds itself in the present situation, in which Iran is in a strong position to make demands, the U.S. is in a much weaker position to urge a halt to its nuclear program, and negotiations are still sluggish (though certainly hopeful). Nicely done."

Nothing is being done because people here all seem to have AADD. Push a button ---- (gay marriage, terrorists threats, immigration, terrorist threats, Korea ,again, and the latest, flag burning) distractions and divisive tactics! while Bush and the puppet masters lead us to horrific world conflict.

We do nothing because we never do until we wake and smell the coffee...and count the body bags coming home.

I'd first change the name of the country. The name 'Iran' already conjures up an image of insanity, regligious goofyness, nuclear disaster, etc. I'd change the name to something like "South Lavender" and then make the predominant color in the country something that soothes, rather than incites. Lavender, pinks, or pastels. And I'd put small speakers everywhere and play gentle, classical music, even children's songs like "it's a small world". This is a first step. I have other ideas too, but this is how I'd start the whole thing.

hahaha... that CIA thing worked SO WELL in the 70s... talk about repeating history... hahaha

I mean what do we have the money/soldiers to do? Drop a few bombs?

and what about N. Korea... probably a greater risk... again what do we have the money/soldiers to do?

and then there is still Osama out there who has killed many more on U.S. soil than Iran, Iraq and N. Korea combined...

Panacea: why is it that conservatives sound just like Hitler sometimes? I guess it's just a coincidence?
Your answer is perhaps the most un-American answer I've ever read on here... but what do you care about America anyway?

Opposite: What should Iraq do (The rebels)
Sit quiet till all the foreigners go home.
They won't leave till you are quiet, so blowing them up isn't working out to well.
The foreign armies would have left long ago if the fighting would just stop for a couple of months.

Handle them the same way we handled Iraq except the mission would be complete when we extracted all the enriched uranium from the country. I would get the help of as many countries as possible. Use the United Nations as much as possible tell them that if they don't cough it up, we're comin to take it from them.

Stop the supply of weapons to that entire area. Ever watch "Lord of War"? Great movie, and it mentions the biggest culprits.

I would recruit dissidents that live in the country that are ready to take it over and offer them military support; training, supplies and let them go after the mad men in charge.

Put it in my purse with all the other junk that seems to find me. Carry it around for about 10 days, and throw it in the trash.

Me personally or if I were a Liberal?

If I were a Liberal I would probably follow in Clinton's footsteps and give them more nuclear power in hopes of them becoming my friend and hugging a tree with me.

Invade them, round up the mullahs and execute them. Shut down the mosques and jail anyone who complains, either in our own country or in Iran.
