I've been asking the same question ever since the "War against Plaque"

There will always be someone or some group or some culture or country, that wants more than they are entitled to, and when you (we) get in the way of them achieving that goal, evil is present in the form of war, violence, etc. Whether we want to be a part of it or not, it seeks us and compels a offensive or defensive response, but a response nevertheless. I don't like it either. Just the way the world is though.

it's to form an enemy that you can gather the public behind... if you have an enemy, then the public thinks that you're doing something... you're beating the enemy...

notice both the war on terror and war on drugs were both under conservative leaders... the conservative that didn't have a "vague" war on anything in recent times, the elder Bush, lost his re-election...

It's a standard technique in politics--divert people's attentions from real issues to unimportant but symbolic issues and then you can "unify" the people, steal them blind, and they'll all think you're a swell person for protecting them from evil.

It is a very simple yet effective way to constantly remind the people of imaginary enemy and rule them,it is a practice as old as politics.
