That is because each new year is a smaller fraction of your total life. Going from year one to year two you just doubled your life. But going from year 100 to 101 that year only added a small fraction to your total life. So when you look back, each additional year is a smaller and smaller fraction of your total life.

There is the metabolism theory, as you get older your metabolism slows down and your perception of time speeds up. The faster your metabolism the slower you perceive time to go, I remember in grade school looking at the clock in class and it seemed to take an eternity for that class to end, even for 5 mins to pass seemed forever, today at 55 the years fall away like rain in a typhoon during monsoon season. Take an animal with a high metabolism like a housefly. When you try to swat the little sucker and if it sees you, it easily avoids being squished, because of its very high metabolism and consequently its perception of time. Its perception of time is 500 times slower then yours. It sees your hand coming in slow motion. it has time to plan the next few minutes of its life, which to us goes by before we know it, (but to the fly its like a week) before your hand actually gets near enough to cause him to want to vacate the area. If this theory is true then to slow your life down you have to speed up your metabolism again and you'll probably lose some weight too.

its the same measure of time,,,,what varies is the amount of things and obligations people acquire....its not the same to be a 10 yr old and just going to school and going home and playing with toys than to be an 18 yr old going to college and starting things by yourself than to being a 30 yr old getting a stable job and getting married
also the more years come more people to deal new friends new partners new debts new inventions new things to buy new hobbies new places
and also things that happen in the world such as politics events on sports changes on technology new discoveries this bores me i said enough aghhhhhhhhh

It is just, the older you get, the faster it seems the year is. So the older you get, the shorter the years feel. Maybee you blink more as you get older. LOL

We are getting older and remembering less and less. When we were young everything was fun, as we grow older we have to take on more responsibility, leaving less time to enjoy life, thus giving us fewer memories to reminisce about.
