You're sorry. That's what matters.
Tell God you're sorry and then give whatever it was
To someone else... so you won't have it there....
Making you feel guilty. Just a suggestion.

Dude, take it from me. It will haunt you the remainder of your days. I stole a jacket in high school and someone else got the blame. I can't even look that fella in the eye whenever I see him around town and it's been 20 years. Sometimes all I want to do is call the person up and say "Sorry, I was such a punk."

Post a notice in the "lost and found" section of the newspaper. And check it daily to see if there's been a report of it missing. If you can, call the police and say you found it.

If you can't find a way to remedy this, you'll just have to ask God to forgive you and then you'll have to forgive yourself. It takes a long time to stop thinking about it.

Don't ever do anything so stupid and selfish again. And don't beat yourself up forever about it.

I suggest you need to clear your conscience so you can forgive yourself.

I would simply run an ad in the newspaper, something like this:

LOST EARRINGS?
I found your earrings in the ladies room at the Gunter Hotel, East Falls, Wyoming, on June 1, 2006. Please call "number" and leave a message.

Then, when you get a call, you can return the call and ask for a description of the property. Make an appointment to meet in a public location such as Starbucks. When you see the person you stole from, then go outside and explain that you took the property, apologize, then return it.

Good Luck

you don't know who they are that you stole from? you can't give it back why? give it away to charity that will redeem you, and then don't do it again...

it may help your guilty conscious if you gave it to someone else who could use it..

unless of course you stole someone's virginity and you don't know her name.. if that is what you stole then you probably should feel a little guilty but they gave it up too...

In the meantime, just try and forget about it. Guilty feelings will go away with time my dear...

Well you could steal something bigger. then whatever it was you stole first won't seem so bad.

Don't turn yourself in. That would be the same as getting caught, and that is definitely worse then stealing. If it really does bother you that is a good thing. It means you have a conscience. Give the whatever it was to someone who really needs it or needs it more then you without getting caught. That would be my best advice.

Hey don't feel too guity about it. One thing is that u still have conscience, that is a good thing. It's not easy to admit one's fault and u did it! Since u have already done it, there is nothing u can do to make amend.. Just mark down this unpleasant deed and try to think about what u are going to do in the future. Never do it again and be a decent good man, this is what u are supposted to be!

Sometimes we are conqured by the Evil, but we can fight back right? ;) Buck up and best wishes!

Take it back to the place you stole and leave it there. You should feel guilty, that is a sign that you possess a rare thing in today's world, a conscience.

Its your conscience it will bother you for a long time unless you can find a way to easily ignore it but once its a mistake its kinda hard to forget sometimes. Id suggest if you want to return it call the news paper and put in it found the item you stole and description of it and when they come to get it tell them the truth and be honest.

Feeling Guilty about stealing something is good. It means that you have a conscience. I would say return the Item to it's rightful owner, but if you can't do something productive with the item. And you aren't a bad person for stealing one item. Everyone does bad things occasionally. Just learn from your mistake and don't do it again.

I was like that once until someone close to me got caught and I vowed to never do it again. The only way I got rid of my guilt is by never using the things I stole. Maybe give it to charity? And eventually I told my mom. My concious felt so much clearer. You can always try to do something good.

post a lost and found sign where they could see it!? or ask around whom it belongs to. if you really are sincere abt. the returning what you stole thing, you will do as i say. if you don't then accept the fact that you did something terribly wrong. make sure it doesnt happen again, and you may not be as lucky next time. a jail term is what accompanies the act. no free lunch remember. do something stupid, you get whacked! simple as that.
