I puchased a rebuilt one for 900 bucks, it sucked. My mustang never ran the same again. I'd try going to a junk yard you can get it fairly cheap 1 there and they give you a small warranty.

Anyway you approach this it's not going to cheap. If you buy from a junkyard it's unlikely you'll get any kind of warranty. Not only that, it's a Mustang trans, what do people do with Mustangs? They drive aggressively and love to bang gears, at least I did!
Find a reputable shop in your area and have them rebuild your transmission. Your looking at $1000.
