i'm sure there are many great drummers i'm missing, but the first two that come to mind are:
--Ringo Starr from The Beatles. Although his rhythms are usually fairly simple, he always leaves room for the lead singer, balancing and complementing the musicians. Examples: Hello Goodbye, I Am the Walrus
--Stewart Copeland from The Police. He had AMAZING patterns that were very complicated and at the same time pleasing to the ear. Whatever songs he plays in are magical and multi-dimensional. Examples: Darkness, One World

Well if all time counts and dead people are allowed in then this is easy.
John Bonham-Led Zepplin
Keith Moon-The Who
Tommy Lee-Motley Crue
Matt Sorum-(formerly of Guns in Roses) Velvet Revolver
Chad Smith-Red Hot Chili Peppers
Just google their names and you should get a whole load of drumming stuff.
