I haven't the foggiest idea of when you can do this. But, I know you can get a stud sensor at Home Depot and it will tell you if there is a stud in there somewhere. Works every time!

Pregnant women don't get X-rays....not good for the fetus.
You can have an ultrasound. Most are given at 20 weeks gestation. They are looking for more than just gender at that point. It is really exciting to watch.
I had one at 16 weeks....and the doc 'guessed' that it was a boy. Keep in mind that at that time, the penis is the size of a grain of rice. But his trained eye was RIGHT. It was a boy.

It's usually about 20 weeks. Kepp in mind though that sonograms can be misleading and there are also times when the doctor is unable to tell the sex of the baby. I didn't know what I was having either of my 2 pregnancies. I had girls but didn't find out until I delivered. I guess my girls were just too modest...lol
Congratulations and good luck

I'm 8 months pregnant with a boy and we saw his "peeman" for the first time at 19 weeks. By the way, they do it by ultrasound which means that they do it on TOP of her belly and the can see into her placenta to the baby.

An ultrasound at 18 to 22 weeks will do the trick.

NO. It is called an ultrasound. They would usually do this around 20-24 weeks.

no they don't and it is called an ultrasound or sonogram and I think the earliest you can tell is about 12 weeks but usually docs will wait till week 17 because everything is well formed by then

4 lonths along, i believe. and the procedure involves you lying back. they'll put some jelly stuff on your stomach that allows the sonogram to see your baby. it's non-invasive. and you can't always tell the sex of the baby. it depends on its position at the time.
