Yes, global warming has started and finished and started and finished.

The earth has been much warmer before and much colder. It will be both much warmer and much colder again many times.

I don't think anyone knows for certain just how far global warming will go. It is true that the polar ice caps are shrinking and that glaciers are getting smaller. The cyclical nature is also true, but it has never had 6 billion humans affecting it before. All systems tend to fluctuate around a stable norm and the global environment variations are measured in centuries rather than years. That is why it is so extremely difficult to be certain whether this is just a normal warm swing above the norm or is it a permanent shift in the norm caused by human activity. I believe we have shifted the norm towards a warmer environment but I'm not so sure that it will run away to the extremes that some have predicted. Enormous systems also tend to stabilize themselves, like the hole in the ozone getting smaller. The processes to achieve that stabilization could be pretty extreme also however. And then there are unknown outside variables, like shifts in the amount of heat put out by the sun. Very complex.

Wow. I am surprised by the number of people that think global warming is not real. Wake up people. It is not a "scam". Yes, the earth goes through natural hot and cold cycles. Yes, the earth has been warmer (like when it was a billion degrees while it was forming) and it has been colder (ice age). Most of these changes have to do with entering dusty or clear parts of the galaxy that block sunlight. The Earth's temp has been raising at an alarming rate for the past 100 years. The rate of temp increase is far higher than can be explained by any natural processes. Perhaps the Earth is naturally seeing a warming trend, but there is no doubt that humans are playing a large role in accelerating this process.

The global warming has started since human started using the power and energy given by the heat and fire, that needs wood. The desert will increase it's surface and the North and South pole will melt causing the Oceans to rise, that means some lands will be flooded. Not to mention that many species of plants and animals will die. All regions will change their climate. Some will be deserted while others will become wet, heavy storms and tornadoes will be in country that normally shouldn't be.

the oil industry has killed the planet. we all know about global warming. what we don't know is the truth. the truth is the planet and its habitable environment relies on the crude oil in the ground.just as motor oil in your car engine keeps it cool and lubricated is the same way it acts in the planet. the crude oil acted like a cushion in between plates and an insulator. it kept the heat from rising to the surface the way it does now. I'm sure green house gasses add to it. every time you open a heated house and the heat escapes where does it go? does it cool off or does it raise? what effects of all this heating doing on the planet. it all must add. watch the trailer to a inconvenient truth

There has been a hurricane below the equator. It happened last year, 50 yrs earlier than what scientists predicted. Hurricanes live on warm water.

It's because the planet is going though a natural process. I wouldn't listen to people like Al Gore on this subject.
